worms and attractent spray?

I found some Berkley gulp spray at Walmart for $1 so got craw and nightcrawler flavor. is this stuff crap or does it work? if it works do you just spray the individual worm or the whole pack?

 

also should I keep my worms and chigger craws in their bags or okay to put in a tackle tray?

Don't forget the garlic. On a slow day when using scents change flavors. I went from a bait mate bass scent, no action, to a garlic scent with plenty of action.

we don't eat cheeseburgers everyday, neither do the bass.

 

I been using scents for decades now I never leave home without them. The make fish hold on longer besides attracting them. With plastics that are salted I don't use scents at first. If I get a strike and miss it one shot of scent will make it hang on longer to set the hook.

 

the scent covers oders from your tackle box and your hands. I don't handle a gas pump when I'm going fishing. I was my hands with big range before I leave the house that's my ritual.

What I like is a pen you get at bass pro. Comes with red and yellow. Smells like garlic. I color the tails yellow and the mid section of the worm red. Seems to be working pretty well for me

Berkley Powerbait and GULP are both legit as they have been around for years and proven to catch fish. I add the scent to the bags of plastic and let them soak until its time to use them in most cases. I also only use scent on baits that come from the factory without any at all such as Zoom or Berkley Havoc as I don't want to negate the original scents. I'd say use it and if its not your thing its a learning experience.

If u ever want to get a scent that doubles as a dye get you some JJ's magic. It is the strongest most powerful scent I've ever smelled. It 100000% works. I have seen my catch rate skyrocket after applying that stuff and it stays on ur bait for what seems like an eternity. If you don't want to dye the bait get the clear one. The garlic scent will singe ur nose hairs.

Don't add a different scent to baits that already are scented like Power Baits and Gulp.

I also scored the big spray bottle of Berkley gulp crawfish scent for $1.50

 

I plan on using it for baits that have little to no scent like my Havoc flat dawgs. I can spray them before casting or transfer the bait to a ziplock baggies and spray them 3-5 times then seal the bag.

I use two types of scents. The ones that change the plastic's color (JJ's-SpikeIt) and ANYTHING  with an oil base.  I like something with an oil base for a couple of reasons. The first is it helps soft plastics resist catching on vegetation. Second, on some hard baits, it helps the bait slip through the closed mouth of a bass that has clamped down on it. I actually don't put much faith in the scent itself.

Whenever and wherever we fish, there are 'countless' variables simultaneously at work.

As a result, it's not possible to prove that fish attractants 'do' work or 'don't' work.

That being the case, the phrase: "Bass Hold On Longer" will be reiterated for the foreseeable future

Sometimes scent can turn a follow into a commitment. I can attest that the gulp stuff works really well.the gulp alive stuff in particular, the Leeches just knock em dead on tough days. Couple of cool tidbits:anise and garlic work very well to mask sunscreen, bug repellent, cigarettes and other human scents that can totally turn fish off. There are also two basic formulas for attractants: oil based and water based, the former being more desirable due to the scent hanging on to the bait longer leaving a thicker scent trail...truth be told I feel that both of them have their applications, and it's always better to have it then not! Just don't leave me in your tackle box.lol!

Use Vasoline. Mixing 2 very different chemicals often has unwanted results and the reason I don't suggest doing it. Agree with using dye, JJ's has a overwhelming oder for me to use.

I have plenty of proof, was out with the Father in law last year on the vacation lake. I used scent for the first hour and he didn't and for part of that time we both used the same baits. I caught a bunch of fish and he couldn't buy a hit. He put some LM on and had a hit in a couple of casts and a fish in 5 minutes.

 

second test was I dead sticked a crappie slider over the side of the boat and watched panfish inspect but not bump or attack the bait. Added scent and dropped the bait back in and dead sticked it again and watched the same pod of panfish now bump and attack the bait. That showed me that it does trigger a response from fish, and oh yeah they probably hold on longer too;)
