LoweStinger Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Well I got around to installing my Garmin echMap 73sv today and I couldn't have installed it without the Ram mount !! These things are life savers, it allowed me to locate it anywhere I wanted.. Very strong and easy adjustable !! 1 Quote
Super User RoLo Posted March 30, 2017 Super User Posted March 30, 2017 Very Kool The universal knuckle lets me quickly readjust the screen to suit the current sun angle. The ram mount also makes mounting and removal a snap (you left-handed?). Roger 1 Quote
LoweStinger Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 I have it positioned so I can also turn it around when I'm on the trolling motor up front when I need to see side view imaging ! 1 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted March 30, 2017 Global Moderator Posted March 30, 2017 Looks good! ? Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 31, 2017 Super User Posted March 31, 2017 Ram mounts are good. Are you left handed? Placing a sonar unit in the center of the boat could be an issue getting to the front deck. Tom 1 Quote

Super User gim Posted March 31, 2017 Super User Posted March 31, 2017 I can't say I've ever seen anyone mount it on that side but if it works, great. Pretty cool that you can just turn it the other direction to see it from the front too. Quote
LoweStinger Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 There is really lots of room to that side, just the boat cover makes it look like there isn't. It also has room to adjust it closer to the console, I will adjust it more when I can get out on the water. But for me its a perfect location to be used in a multi purpose situation. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted March 31, 2017 Super User Posted March 31, 2017 Ram mounts are a great thing. I agree with what others have said though, I'd be bumping into that just about every time I went up to the front deck, no matter how much extra room I had to go around it. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 31, 2017 Super User Posted March 31, 2017 Nice set up ~ And way to rock out with the 80's Jam .. .. .. .. A-Jay 2 Quote

1simplemann Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Have you run your boat with the RAM's yet? For me, they move. I constantly have to readjust them. I over tightened one and it broke. Trying a mini-Kong mount this year. Haven't had it out yet but it looks to be fairly stout. Quote

I haven't yet due to the weather...They make some models that are built to handle heavier electronics out of all metal and some of plastic for smaller electronics.. I have the all metal one with rubber coated ball. Mine is VERY sturdy and very heavy duty and I couldn't possibly think I could ever have to readjust it or overtighten it as it tightens down with zero effort. Do you have the plastic one maybe ? The ball is metal but the clam is plastic. I have two sizes. The big one is mounted up front. It is mounted upright and hardly moves. I can tighten the heck out of it without fear of it breaking. The smaller one is at the console and is at an angle like you have yours. It never stays in place after a run. Always moves. I just finished mounting the mini Kong today so I'll be getting a test run soon. We'll see how it does after a summer of fishing. There's a KVD Kong mount. that thing will never move and is super adjustable. Very $$$$$ Quote
WPCfishing Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 I've had two of them on my custom fishing canoe for a couple of years. Awesome design and quality. Quote
New River Addiction Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I mounted mine in the same place as you did. I really like knowing that the floor of the boat is there to catch it instead of the water! Too many tree limbs hanging off the bank for me to justify mounting it on the right hand side of the console. Even if I wasn't a lefty it would still be mounted on the left side. 1 Quote
