NRX demo

I just bought a G loomis NRX demo from TackleTrap. It was over 100 dollars cheaper than the retail version. What's the difference?

Nothing. Same warranty. Just rep sample/show demo rods.  The ones that I have bought have been absolutely perfect and you could mistake them for brand-new.  Never pay retail for in an Nrx when rep samples are almost $200 cheaper

A demo is something that was likely brought to various fishing shows and handled.  It should not have been fished with.  If you think about it, it's really no different than the rods on the shelf at the store.  You don't know who did what to the rod that you just bought.  Good savings!

That's what I figured. I'm sure it's like new. I think I made out pretty good lol. NRX might be the best rod on the market

When you buy a rod off the shelf it has been handled by store customers.

If you get a warranty without paying thier $100 extra for it, good deal.

$100 cheaper? then its actually an E6X with an NR sticker over the first two letters

That's some good news. I would never spend 550 for a rod

Now a demo or floor model reel is a completely different story IMO.

 

You guys wouldn't by chance have any idea where I might look for one of these demos?

I've never paid retail for my NRX's.  I got all of mine either used or through the tackle trap.

Tackle Trap X3.  I own two NRX rods and they were both purchased from them as rep samples/demo rods but delivered with stickers/tags/plastic and looked brand new.  And both were approximately 30% off retail price.

Congrats on the new rod. So I have been looking into getting an NRX demo and was told by a buddy of mine that their warranty does not apply to demo rods? Is his information false? I would love to add one to my lineup but would also like something with a warranty for that price

Your buddy was incorrect. Purchase a rep sample through an authorized dealer and you have a full warranty with Loomis.

I have a "demo" rod, given to me by the company rep, and that was back about 1985. Still using it regularly.

Yep.  When I bought my demo rod from Gary, I asked specifically about the warranty.  He told me the full warranty is in effect for them when purchased through him.

I just ordered an 893c last night from Tackle Trap...at a nice discount due to demo rod.   I am super excited to get my hands on this.  

 

This will be my first purchase of a quality  rod.  My passion for fishing justifies this, for sure.

Showroom rods have all been flexed by hand and had their tips pressed against the floor

on countless occasions. That's not a problem, as long as the rod was never over-stressed,

and a flexed tip never got loose and smacked an object.

 

Typically, floor samples are sold near cost but without a warranty,

so if you get a warranty without cost, that would be a very good deal.
