OCdockskipper Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 251 in California plus 52 in Georgia & 11 in Texas last week for a total of 314. The Georgia numbers were fun, they were all from shore from two small lakes (4 acres) over 2 mornings/evenings. These waters also coughed up a dozen bluegill all larger than my hand. The Texas numbers were also from shore & included 4 bass that were either Spots or Guadalupes (out of the Blanco river) Quote
PECo Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Are you asking about only largemouth bass? A fishing buddy and I boated 121 striped bass, today, with four keepers (28 inch minimum): 28 inches - 29 inches - 31 inches - 28 inches - 3 Quote

Super User DogBone_384 Posted March 29, 2017 Super User Posted March 29, 2017 I've been out 8 times this year and caught seven smallies and a fat yellow perch. Water temps have been 48 degrees or lower each time out. Today was the low temp, barely breaking 42.x degrees. Hopefully we'll be clear of winter this week and Massachusetts bass wake up. Quote

Between noon and 1 PM nearly every week day I fish one of the dozen bodies of water within 10 minutes of my office which hold fish. On the weekends I bank fish around Loxahatchee. This year I have been using 4" - 6" Senkos, Texas-rigged with a 3/16 oz lead bullet weight and 12 lb mono. Nearly every fish caught this year has been landed with that set up. This breakdown for the fish caught so far follows: Under 1 lb - 91 fish 1 - 2 lbs - 9 fish 2 - 3 lbs - 1 fish 3 - 4 lbs - 1 fish 4 - 5 lbs - 1 fish 6 - 7 lbs - 0 fish 7 - 8 lbs - 1 fish (7 lb 4 oz my PB) 8+ lbs - 0 fish This represents 52 days, fishing 1 hour each day. If this catch rate continues, it is going to be a great year! How many have you caught? - Bruce - Does fish = bass? Or are you including sunfish? Quote
Clinton john Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 100 fish day isn't that hard to do if your fishing in a lake that has the population for it to happen. Wish I could give a exact number on how many I have pulled out of Toledo Bend since Jan 1st, but I can't, I'm sure it's up around 400 by now. I've caught seven over 8 pounds so for this year and one over 9 but still havent broke my PB of 9.14 2 Quote

Yes I have experienced many of those in my life. The water level is dropping good in the glades now,so I might have to make a little trip over there for another +100 bass day. MisplacedTexan99 Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Lol that stings a bit...I sure do miss Texas. I have been out once and caught 2, but that is changing this weekend hell or high water. Quote
Airman4754 Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I fish pretty much everyday. I've caught a bass 71 days in a row now. I have to be averaging around 35 fish a week. Sometimes I catch way more than that in a week, sometimes less. I was going to do something next year of trying to catch a bass all 365 days in the year, which would be tough because I travel for work quite a bit or try to catch 2,000 bass in a year. I would have to keep actual track though which would be annoying. Quote
Chowderhead Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 (edited) Reporting in from Omaha, Nebraska: A whopping total of 5 bass so far in 2017. Edited April 1, 2017 by Chowderhead Updated after fishing last night. Quote

In the Everglades when the conditions are right we have had 200 fish days in 4 hours. When the water levels drop and the fish are concentrated things can really get crazy. Right now the Oscars have taken over in the canals. They are aggressive and relentless predators, you could catch 200 of them right now with little effort A small in-line spinner and its every cast!!!! Quote

Fish get crazy congregated in the power plant lakes in the winter. Fish on every cast for a few hours on end happens to me a few times every winter. There's some "practice lakes" as I call them around here that I go to whenever I'm trying to learn or perfect a technique or test a new bait. They're stunted and jump on about anything. If you don't catch 100 fish, it's kind of embarrassing, but none of them might touch 2 pounds. The guys I had in the boat Thursday quit counting at 50 between them, that was just after 9AM, and wasn't counting all the fish I was boating. I had one cast that a giant wiper was slamming my glide bait but not hooking up, just to have a big smallmouth steal it at the boat, and then come off, it was wild to watch. What KS lacks in size potential, it somewhat makes up in numbers. 2 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted April 4, 2017 Super User Posted April 4, 2017 Five times out for a grand total of 28. At first I was catching crappie, but now it's all bass. Quote
