BCline Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I have the great fortune to live in Loxahatchee, FL and work in Deerfield Beach. Between noon and 1 PM nearly every week day I fish one of the dozen bodies of water within 10 minutes of my office which hold fish. On the weekends I bank fish around Loxahatchee. This year I have been using 4" - 6" Senkos, Texas-rigged with a 3/16 oz lead bullet weight and 12 lb mono. Nearly every fish caught this year has been landed with that set up. This breakdown for the fish caught so far follows: Under 1 lb - 91 fish 1 - 2 lbs - 9 fish 2 - 3 lbs - 1 fish 3 - 4 lbs - 1 fish 4 - 5 lbs - 1 fish 6 - 7 lbs - 0 fish 7 - 8 lbs - 1 fish (7 lb 4 oz my PB) 8+ lbs - 0 fish This represents 52 days, fishing 1 hour each day. If this catch rate continues, it is going to be a great year! How many have you caught? - Bruce - 7 Quote
Super User geo g Posted March 28, 2017 Super User Posted March 28, 2017 I too fish Loxahatchee from time to time. I have probably fished it 10 times this year from the Lox Road ramps. I fish almost everyday and have caught many hundreds of bass this year. I have no idea of how many dinks, up to 22 inches this year. This has been a good month with 6 between 20 to 22 inches. It would drive me nuts to keep count of how many 1 to 2 pounders I have caught. I too fish senkos, u-vibes, flukes, swim frogs, and trick worms, a lot. Good luck out there, maybe ill see you at lox. I have a 18 foot winner bass boat with a 115 Yamaha four stroke. 2 Quote
Hawkeye21 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I believe I've only caught 11 bass so far this year. I won't complain since many years the water is still covered in ice this time of year. Quote
BCline Posted March 28, 2017 Author Posted March 28, 2017 I am current restoring a 1984 Bayliner Trophy 1710, but am limited to bank fishing until I get her seaworthy again. Let me know anytime you have an empty seat in your boat, I will gladly put my butt in it! Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted March 28, 2017 Super User Posted March 28, 2017 Don't keep track, but ballpark 40 something. Quote
Steveo-1969 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 So far in 2017 I have caught ZERO bass. But thanks for asking........ 2 Quote
Bassin' Brad Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Don't want to talk about how many I've caught this year! But I haven't been very many times unfortunately..... Quote

RichF Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Pretty awesome to have all those cool Florida ponds so close. Great numbers and sweet 7-plus! I'll be heading back home to NY to fish with my Dad in 2 weeks (first time in 2017). Not gonna get my hopes up but the bar has been set pretty high in the last 6 or 7 seasons fishing in Early April. Planning on one day for brown ones and one day for greenies. It will be "disappointing" if we don't catch 35 - 60 smallmouth and 20 - 30 largemouth. Can't wait! Quote
CDMeyer Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I like your method for tracking them! Something to look at at the end of the year! We still have ice up here! Quote

First one on Feb. 11 this year and been catching them ever since. Great start for Indiana, and we're still just in March 1 Quote
MTBassin Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 So far zero. But my local lakes just thawed a week or two ago and I'm headed out in a few minutes to hopefully catch a few! Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted March 28, 2017 Super User Posted March 28, 2017 A grand total of one for me this year, and I had to drive six hours south, to Kent's place, to get that one. Quote
scrutch Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I've been catching them like crazy! I caught probably 30 over 3 lbs, I had on one that was sure to be my new PB, then my alarm clock went off and I had to get up and go to work. 4 Quote
CybrSlydr Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Son of a... Here I am, haven't caught a d**n fish since November - and I've been trying! Switched over to trying to catch some trout once winter came along - struck out every time I went trout fishing. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted March 29, 2017 Super User Posted March 29, 2017 I can't fish for bass yet, not until mid May. Quote
