He got an 8+ today during the lunch break but the camera was on and they showed it once the live coverage resumed. If you're watching live - they'll most likely show that one a few more times today and again at the weigh in. A-Jay Quote

The spectators boats are an interesting study at every Classic and often impact the results. It seems the locals want to follow so they can watch where the pro go on thier lakes and then move onto spots and fish them if the pro leaves. Sometimes the spectators beat the pro to the spots on days 2 and 3 catching the bass....amazing show of unsportsmanlike behavior. Watching is normal, fishing during a tournament as a spectators isn't. Tom 3 Quote

There were hundreds of spectator boats out there. The landings were overflowing. I never saw anyone fishing anywhere near the pros, much less poaching the spots after they were vacated by the competitors. However, it was common to see boaters marking the hot spots on graphs and phones. Lots of people did that. Most boats stayed about 75-100 yards away from the Elite guys. It was quite the sight to see guys trying to use binoculars and tripod cameras in three-foot rollers. Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted March 25, 2017 Author Super User Posted March 25, 2017 On the strength of TWO 20lb bags Dave Lefebre from Erie, PA is currently sitting in 2nd place on day two. Brent Ehrler backed his day one 23-3 lb bag with another 20 sack to stay on top of the leader board so far on day two. The final day is shaping up to be pretty killer. A-Jay 3 Quote

A-Jay Brent is an amazing angler (in the money 23 out of 38), and the way he vaulted onto the tournament venue is reminiscent of Kevin VanDam (remember him?). I had high hopes for Alton Jones, Brent Ehrler and believe it not, Edwin Evers. With the others eating dust, it looks real good for Brent (the man's on fire!) Roger Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted March 26, 2017 Author Super User Posted March 26, 2017 Day 3 ~ This Final Day of the 2017 Classic is set to get underway here in less than an hour. The local forecast is calling for cloudy skies with early peaks of sunshine late, High of 83F, Winds SSE at 10-20 mph, but mostly calm early. Day 1 saw a south wind that was a bit stiffer than today’s forecast, Day 2 winds diminished some but backed all the way around to the north, which in March seems to cool off a bit. The surprising number of angler zero’s seemed to indicate that may have been a contributing factor. So that south wind today may see an improvement in both numbers & size. This final day is loaded with a number of interesting story lines. The field has been trimmed to the top 25, with some seriously heavy weight sticks rounding out that list. Despite a tremendous amount of fishing pressure, when one considers the number of plus 8-10 pound bass Lake Conroe somehow routinely produces, most anyone left in today’s derby has a legitimate chance to get their fishy paws on that trophy. So who will it be ? Can Brent Ehrler go wire to wire and win his first ? Or will Dave LeFebre continue his impressive move up the leader board to claim the top prize. With the likes of Edwin Evers, KVD, Ike & Steve Kennedy not very far behind them both, I’m betting they’ll feel the pressure, how will it affect them ? And what about Bradley Roy, a Rookie, who’s managed to deify and ignore the odds to battle his way to 5th place, think he got any sleep last night ? Then there’s James Elam who’s starting this final day sitting in 4th place six pounds or so behind the leader. Despite being considered one of the very talented new comers on the Elite Series, this Oklahoman is quietly riding under the radar in this his second Classic appearance. There’s plenty more to consider and as always, the events of the day are bound to spawn any number of intriguing and surprising story lines that can & often do play a part in determining the out come to just who will be crowned the 2017 Bassmaster Champion. Here we go ~ ! A-Jay 1 Quote

CTBassin860 Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Id say this could be anyones to win in the top 6 right now. However Iaconelli is only 1# back of Ehrler and had 1 less fish on the day.Im putting my money on Ike to win this on the final day. 1 Quote
Fun4Me Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 I'm watching live, and they're saying that the spectators are being extremely nice and courteous. Some are saying it's the best they've seen in years. Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 And Ike pulls a 9-10lber! This is going to be very, very interesting. And the rumor that Ike retires if he wins?! I've been too busy with work to watch until today, but this is shaping up to be an incredible finish. Ike and Ehrler seem to have pulled away. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 KVD hasn't had a single big bite, the others have all caught a biggun. I hope KVD gets his turn today and smashes it to win. Quote

There's a rumor Ike is going to retire if he wins? Hmmm sounds fishy to me ( pun intended ?) the last classic he won he said it was his last. Then he won it and well here we are today and he's better than ever. I don't think its in his DNA to give it up. Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 I mean, I'd be kinda shocked if he retires, but he's basically put himself in a position to do whatever he wants if he does. In either case, this seems to be a pretty crazy/unpredictable lake this weekend, so there's a lot of fishing to do. Also, what's up with Basstrakk sandbagging that fish at 8lbs? No way is that fish only 8-0. Quote
