XpressJeff Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 New boat owner here planning some multi-day trips to Dale Hollow and a few others this season. When I get there and have fished for the day I am sure my less than stellar boat control will have the TM battery(s) screaming to be plugged in for a few hours! How do some of you deal with this situation? I am sure some hotel/motels have accommodation for this but how many? I have not made any reservations yet, but soon! Generator in truck? Pls share some ideas. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted March 23, 2017 Super User Posted March 23, 2017 Be sure to embark on your trip with fully-charged batteries, and they should hold their charge during the trip to your destination. Whether or not the lodge or motel claims to provide an electrical outlet, always pack a looong extension cord to stay in charge. Roger Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted March 23, 2017 Super User Posted March 23, 2017 I have a converter that I plug into my truck's outlet, and the converter allows me to plug the TM charger into that. I usually charge it 20-30 minutes on, hour off. Just because I don't like idling my truck. Its lasted me for 4 day trips, fishing every day almost all day. But I do try to conserve as much juice in the battery as possible when I'm using the TM. Quote
Logan S Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Extension cords become a part of your life as a bass fisherman . Invest in some good quality, heavier gauge cords. A 100' cord is worth it's price tag. A few shorter ones will be helpful too as will a heavy duty splitter. Running cords from your hotel/motel room out the boat is common practice at places that don't have outlets near the parking or docking areas. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 24, 2017 Super User Posted March 24, 2017 3 choices; stay overnight where they offer RV/Boat electrical outlets and carry an outdoor extension cord, buy a small portable gas powered generator, install a tow vehicle boat battery charging system. Tom Quote

Kris2016 Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Luckily most of the places we have stayed over the years offer outside electrical outlets and we charge the batteries with thier permission. A lot of places close to large lakes have them IF you ask. Quote

3dees Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 in 45 years I have never been to a motel that I couldn't plug in. sometimes it means plugging in the room itself. I always ask before I make a reservation. if the motel is anywhere near a lake, they are usually fishermen friendly. 1 Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Any campground nearby is worth a look too. And usually cheaper than a hotel/motel. Quote
