Hey guys, looking to get a new rod. I'm thinking something for pitching. Maybe a 7 foot or 7'3 in a heavy, fast action.

I definitely want something with a good tip to feel bites.. would that be hard to find in a heavy action?

suggestions?

I have a budget of around $100.

i already have a 6'10" Shimano MH Crucial (LOVE at his rod, great action and so sensitive) use this for an all around rod, have been using this for pitching when the covers not too heavy.

i also have a 7'6" MH Abu Veritas 2.0, mostly use this rod for frogging and bank fishing for long casts.. tried pitching with this but I don't find it's very sensitive and hard to detect bites.... and it's do darn big!

lemme know what I should look into!!!

thanks

For 100 bucks I would've stated a Veritas or BPS Carbonlite new, if you're going used you probably can find a Fenwick ET, Crucial or Avid in that range.

Take a look at a Dobyns Fury FR 735C and the Fury 765 Flip both run $110.

Another nice option to look at is a Powell Inferno 734H CF or their 765 CEF for the same price.

Lastly look at an Irod Fiber IRF754F It is known as the Fred's Magic Stick.  It runs the same price $110.

I don't have any specific recommendations but, since the Crucial is a favorite of yours, do they make that rod in a HVY?

You might want to look at the "Dobyns Fury FR 704C"
                     (7.0 ft | Heavy | Fast | $110)

Irod Fiber 744. A little longer, but would do the trick. Handle is 14.5" which is a couple inches shorter than your Veritas. I pitch with the Genesis 2 733 which has a 15" handle and I love that rod. The Fiber 744 just adds more backbone.

I bought two powell infernos over Christmas but haven't had an opportunity to get them wet. But thrown some plugs casting plugs around in the backyard and could feel the imperfections through the yard way better than I could with my veritas or sojourn. Nice and light and good balance. For your price range I would say one of them or the dobyns fury. I'm sure the dobyns is the nicer bet. I just ordered a champ xp 735 so I got a feeling I just ruined it all now by making that purchase lol

This is false and just as disappointing as your no good combos for under 500 bucks comment so I hope your kidding. People come here for good advice. You should try giving some. Nothing wrong with fishing high dollar stuff if you are able to do so, but making it seem like you have to to have quality is false.
