airborne_angler Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Anyone else had something like this happen? I recently acquired a boat and no longer find myself in the bait aisle at Wal Mart, but now im browsing the boat section....Those darn monkeys.....Theyre everywhere Quote
fishbear Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Man, I know that feeling all to well. I have spent probably double on my boat this summer as I did all year in tackle before I bought the boat,, It will slow down after a bit... especially if the wife sees the receipts ;D ;D ;D :'( :'( :'( :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 21, 2006 Super User Posted September 21, 2006 Don 't say good bye to The BaitMonkey, if you think that meeting his twin brother is going to save you you are dead wrong. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 21, 2006 Super User Posted September 21, 2006 Boat Monkey is Biat Monkey's cousin. Great you are getting to meet the entire family. Keep it up! Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 21, 2006 Super User Posted September 21, 2006 The only problem is, that darn bait monkey is awfully competitive. He will pop his ugly little head up just when you least expect it. He will see you spending your money on the boat and next thing you know.....BAM!!!! (SING ALONG WITH ME!!!!!!!) You just bought 12 bags of senkos, 11 brass weights, 10 lb test line, 9 watermelon zoom lizards, 8 chatterbaits, 7 Terminators, 6 bags of gulp worms, 5 rapala dt's, 4 new sammies, 3 new bags, 2 Hudd swimbaits.....and a brand new shimano combo!!!!!!!!!!! You may applaud now.... Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 21, 2006 Super User Posted September 21, 2006 It 's not competition, it 's an evil alliance; the baitmonkey lets his bro do his stuff and when his bro is done with his affairs with you then baitmonkey returns. For ex: BoatMonkey made me get the boat and the outboard, baitmonkey took a nap while boatmonkey made me purchase battery, rod savers, go-cart base to cartop the boat, TM and fish finder. Boatmonkey took a vacation for a while, baitmoneky returned, then boatmonkey called baitmonkey telling him it was his turn, carpeted the seats and the front platform ( 60 bucks just in glue ! ), then boatmonkey made me purchase 2 seats, 4 rod holders, 2 lure holders, 2 seat caddies, 2 drink holders; boat monkey took a vacation again then baitmonkey came.......... now boatmonkey want to upgrade the outboard for a bigger one ! holy cow, the other outboard is two years old and has about 100 hrs of use. :-? it 's the danged never ending story. : Quote
fishbear Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 A quick estimate of my monkeys work this year. Boat Monkey: 4 batteries, 4 life jackets, 3 trolling motors, 1 fish finder, a wiring harness for the trailer, 4 bulbs, 100 ft. of rope, license on both the boat and trailer, still to come,, decking, carpet, pedestals, livewell pump, Bait Monkey: 2 spinning rods, 2 casting rods, 3 reels, about 250 bucks worth of plastics, 150 bucks worth of crankbaits, 100 bucks worth of chatterbaits and spinnerbaits, 100.00 worth of line, hooks, lead, etc.... So who is winning here???? lmao darn monkeys Quote
fireandice Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Baaaadddd Boat Monkey... Baaaaadddd! I thought I stuffed that little guy into my livewell after he bit me. He must have escaped! : These guys are know to travel in packs of three. Watch out for Divorce Monkey! Quote

Fish Chris Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Proud to say that I'm not a victim of "any" monkeys. I bet I haven't spent $150 on tackle this year (of course my sponsors take pretty good care of me with rods, reels, line, etc) but even before I had any sponsors, I was already narrowing my lure selection down to just bare bones (cutting out all the unneeded garbage if you will). Then, I got my new boat in March. I spent a few hundred bucks putting in the decking and carpet...... oh, and the t-motor wasn't cheap..... but I haven't spent another penny on it since then.... Too busy using it to stick hawgs ! :-) Geeez ! I dunno' about you guys, but "I HATE SHOPPING" ! I'd way rather be on the water fishing, so that's what I do.... In fact, that's what I will be doing, just a couple hours from now ! Yeeehaaa ! Those freakin' monkey's would starve to death if they had to depend on me ;-) Fish PS, I spend what little money I make on gas to get me to the lake and back, and parking, launching, and fishing fees. Super User cart7t Posted September 25, 2006 Super User Posted September 25, 2006 Working on, fixing, adding to, modifying and improving my boat or someone elses is one of my hobbies. I love working on boats far more than messing with the fishing equipment. I've paired my fishing stuff down to what I need and leave the rest to doing cool things to the boat. Quote
ThomasL Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Boat monkey made me by a boat, trailer, outboard that just got sold, monkey will return to upgrade that one!,trolling motor, battery, tempress seats, depth finder, all the other little extras. Bait monkey made me buy sage xp flyrod,T&T flyrod(2),loomis glx spinning rod, glx casting rod, shimano stella reel.. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wheres the GUN got to kill them monkeys!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D Quote
