Razoronefour Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Hi all! I've been a lurker off and on for years. I've always found this place great for tips and help. I've finally decided to join the community and let my voice be heard. (Or keystrokes be seen). 41 year old male, who loves any and all freshwater fishing. I've been fishing as long as I remember. My dad used to take me to ponds when I was little. Growing up I was never around boats so pond fishing is where my love grew for the sport. When I turned 16, I had saved up my money and purchased one of the small 10' pond hopper plastic boats and a trolling motor. Oh man, did it open my eyes to a whole new world. I was able to really learn a lot about fishing over the next few years. In 1997, 3 years after graduating high school, I purchased my first bass boat. A 1997 Skeeter SS140, 17.5 ft with a 115 Yamaha. Finally, I was able to get to the next level of bass fishing. Funny, I'd never drivin' a bass boat before, so first time out everything went great, until it was time to get it back on the trailer. I had backed the trailer too far down the ramp, and the coming up on the trailer, the bow of the boat when under the roller and broke the plastic guard off the trolling motor. It didn't take long for me to get the hang of things though. I kept that boat for 12 years. Gas prices went up, time to go fishing went down. I sold the boat and most of my "high end" gear I had acquired over the years. Recently started to get back into it some. My how things have changed. I have a couple of buds that own boats that I get to go with every now and then, and fishing has sparked my interest once again. Shakey head, swimbaits, Alabama rig, are just a few new techniques that I may need some pointers in. Anyways, good luck all. Also, I'm married with 1 beautiful baby girl. Favorite techniques=Texas rig, Carolina rig, deep crankin, tubin and grubbing for big smallies. Biggest Largemouth=I have 2 8 pounders on the wall, and 2 years ago, I caught a 9lb'ish out of a small lake (big pond), but let it go. Biggest Smallmouth=5.5lbs Kentucky and Barkley lakes. I like Kentucky Lake better because I catch more smallmouth. Keep 'em tight! Quote
