Ok I'm gonna try flourocarbon again. I need to know if this line is as good as its internet reviews. I want to hear the good and the bad from guys who have actually used it. I spooled some up and it casts really well. I have not had a chance to fish with it yet do to frozen water.

Used to be all i used as far as floro goes. I liked it. I switched to p-line cxx now. If it werent for how cheap i can get it id still be spooled with red label. I only used the 8, 12,15, and 20 pound versions of red label.

We have several members that swear by Red Label, but I only use this line for leader.  

For spinning tackle Inviz is more manageable and I REALLY like AbrazX for baitcasting.

There are a LOT of better options for similar money.

The reason there are a lot of reviews is because it is a good seller at wally world.  Popular fishing boards will show different reviews from amazon

It's the reason I now use braid. I tried it with my spinning tackle, to wiry for me. As others have stated, I use red label for my leaders without any issues.

Im a tournament angler that fishes 15+ tournaments each season and all of my rods that don't have braid on them have Red Label. All but a few of my spinning rods have braid, and those have Red Label leader on them. There's better line for sure, but when you are spooling up 20+ reels, it's nice to do it affordably and not sacrifice a ton of quality. If you are only using 1 or 2 reels, you'll find better line, but it won't be cheaper.

As others have said, it's an ok line but there are better options for a mainline imho.  

Flouro is one of those products that shouldn't be bought only because of price or marketing hype. 

There are folks who Love the stuff and some who don't for a lot of reasons.

I have used that line exclusively for my floro over the last 4 years now and have not had an issue. Now i do tourney fish, and i respool at the beginning of the season, and at minimum at least once during the season, sometimes 2-3 more times on my more used combos. I have no problem paying for something like invisx or other higher end floro, i just havent ever had an issue with this line, weather its my main line on over 20 combos, or leader for my spinning stuff, it is always good to me. I also dont buy it from walmart, i order it through TW as i just dont trust wally world line just sitting on the rack/back room for who knows how long. I use the 10, 12, 15, and 20, for cranking to heavy flipping.

I've used the 20# for jig fishing for a couple years now and I like it pretty well. Lots of memory, but it's tough, and affordable, which is nice because I'll go though a few 175 yard spools a year.

If it works for you then you already knew the answer. I bought a big spool of 15 lb, it seems decent but as others have mentioned it's better with line conditioner.

You didn't mention if you spooled it on a spinning or casting reel or what size Red Label you are using, so my comment may be useless to you.  I've been using fluorocarbon mainline on one casting rod for the past several years and have tried different line brands but always in 10# test.  (Oh, and I've always used KVD Line & Lure Conditioner)  I've tried Seaguar Red Label, Seaguar Invizx, Seaguar Abrazx, Sunline Sniper and Gander Mountain house brand. I've settled on Seaguar Red Label because it handles and casts well, is fairly abrasion resistant, it's thin but has great breaking strength, ties strong knots and it's pretty inexpensive. And contrary to other posters above I DO buy mine from Walmart.  $10.97/200 yd. spool.

It's not premium fluorocarbon by any means, but it's cheap and presents a good value for the money, hence the positive reviews. It can also be softened up a bit with KVD Line and Lure.

 

It's a very poor choice for spinning reels, but it's decent on baitcasters. I have been using the #15 on my deep T-rig/football jig setup and plan to try the #20 on my flipping stick this season.

 

My argument for using it is that I can respool twice as often as I would be able to with nicer lines like Abrasx or Invisx. If I had money to burn, I'd buy nothing but Tatsu because that line makes these others look like junk.

I guess i dont understand this comment based on my answer? I was answering the OP's question about those of us that have used red label line and what our thoughts are. Obviously i knew the answer as i was answering the question posted... And yes, i do agree with the others that line conditioner does help, but thats true with any floro or mono in general.

Sorry I think I confused you for the original poster. I'll second that the Red Label is decent line and possibly the best bang for the buck.

I think it is very good line for the money, and I use it frequently. It is not very abrasion resistant, and retying often in some applications is necessary. I've used other more expensive fluorocarbons, but on my budget I always come back to Red Label.

Red label on a spinning reel I hated more than i could imagine, im aware of floro in general will have alot of memory on a spinning reel but i ripped mine off the spool within a few trips it was so annoying.  Invizx is so much better worth the money

red label is my preferred flouro due to the price and performance. sure there is better flouro out there but I have not found one that costs the same or less than red label. the key to any flouro is the knot that you use. be sure to moisten the knot thoroughly before pulling it tight or it will damage the line. Use line conditioner on spinning reels to get rid of some of the memory and always be sure when you are putting line on a spinning reel, make sure the line is coming off the filler spool counter clockwise. this will reduce the line twist.

 

If you just wanted to spend the money, Invizx and vicous pro elite are good choices too, just cost more. I have never used sunline but I hear great things about them. I would probably try sunline if it didn't cost more than the red label.

Red Label is good for the price and makes a nice leader if you end up not liking it for main line.  It won't blow any socks off but it does the job.  Invizx is indeed more manageable but a lot stretchier below 15 lb.

I used to swear by Red Label but I tried and now switch over to Vicious Elite FC. Same price point but more manageable.

It sucks with a capital S for main line.

 

That being said..........it's the only line I use for leaders. Cheap, tough, and has never failed me in that application.

Wow, I wish that was the case here. wait a minute, I actually don't know of anywhere locally that will even stock the viscious elite. I have to order it.

I use red label 15lb for saltwater fishing for snapper usually off bridges. Line is strong and works well for what I use it for.

 

Never tried it as main line though, but I know someone that swears by it.

Sorry.  Can't help with your question.  Seldom use a fluorocarbon line.

Best line for the $ imo.  Good in 10# and 12# that I've tried.
