Native slayer 12 pro

Does anyone have one? I've been looking at nice sot fishing kayaks with the ability to stand up in but sadly pretty limited on stores that sell kayaks around my area the one does have nucanone ws and native and I kinda like the looks of the slayer but was curious if anyone owns or has used one and how they feel about it the price gag is reasonable too 1300 roughly at the shop

Do yourself a big favor, and reconsider the NuCanoe, or the Wilderness Radar. They are both in the same price range, and they've got great features. That wide open deck on them, and their stability, as well as paddle-ability it top notch. I just recently bough a Hobie and am having a little bit of buyer's remorse. I wish I had bought the Radar or the NuCanoe.

I do not, but the Slayer is a great kayak. Has a good

following. Native is a smaller player on the market than

Wilderness Systems, but they make great yaks.

 

The Slayer was basically modeled after the Ultimate, 

but with scupper holes, etc. So it's a little deeper than

a typical SOT, but super stable.

 

I'd strongly consider one in the future if I couldn't afford

a Hobie Pro Angler

I love Native kayaks! I own a Native Ultimate FX15t (tandem) and it was one of the greatest decisions I've ever made. They are top quality and are sooooo easy to customize due to the rail system. You can buy screwballs that attach to the rails and possibilities are endless. I have a transducer, attached to a screwball, that runs off the side and the fishfinder is attached to a screwball too. Rode holders attach to screwballs too, along with a GoPro arm too. It's such an addicting hobby. You can customize a Native with less $$$ than a Hobie too (I'm going to loose some friends with this comment  )

 

Don't worry either............I'm not sponsored either by native haha. It's just what happens when you deliver quality products.

 

Hobie has a cult following......I get it. The Slayer looks sweet! I'm a very happy Native customer and I often convert my tandem to a solo in minutes.

I don't have the pro but I do have a slayer 12.I use it mostly for fishing shallow rivers where I can't get my boat. I love it. The seat is very comfortable. It's easy to customize because of the tracks stable ,I can stand in mine but I don't fish standing.o fish with the seat in the high position and never feel like I'm gonna tip.

Thanks everyone for your input and i mean i never been a fan of hobbies not sure why and I'm. Mainly gonna be paddling rivers which run mostly shallow and creeks that again are prety shallow I do like the ws radar also they carry all 3 so I guess I'll have to try ti choose and try them out when it warms up here personally leaning more towards the native or ws personally

The nucanoe are you talking about the pursuit or frontier

I'm gonna try to get over to the shop today and really look over all 3 brands its gonna be tough ha since they are all in the same price range they also have the ride 115 and 135 on clearance

Any of those yaks are top notch. They are all high quality, and you should have no remorse with any of them

 

The truth of the matter is, you should take the time to try them all out since you have access to doing so. It is the only true way YOU can be sure you are buying what is right for YOU.

I  have a Slayer 10 Propel and love it.  While I have stood in it, I don't even fish that way because the seat is so comfortable I never want to leave it.   If you can make the money work, go for the Propel model.  It is so so nice to be able to hold position while working a lure and I have even peddled backwards to help fight a fish when I would say hook a striper while UL fishing for perch.  

 

The only real complaint I have with the 10 is how easy it is to spin in the wind, but having a boat with so many features and so much deck space at only 50lb hull weight, I can deal with a little wind movement.

Having is the ws radar has features I like so does the slayer I mean the atk and propel are just out of the my price range sadly but with the radar I have the ability to add pedal drive later feel like I probably do also with the native but the price tag on the drive is Damm near price of the yak

If you are thinking about the ATAK contact Kayak City.  I just bought a 120 from them for $1,275.  They are located in Sacramento, CA but only charge $60 shipping.  The boat was their Kayak show model so it has some very light surface scratches but it's never seen water and the scratches are so minor they aren't noticeable.

 

Not sure if they have any of the show models left but it's worth the 5 minute phone call to save $375 OFF MSRP.  Great people to deal with too.

 

Either way all of the boats you listed are very solid and great choices in any price range.

 When I got started kayak fishing I waited until West Marine had a sale on their Pompono 12 model. I believe it is from an old wilderness system mold, or at least it looks incredibly similar to some of their older kayaks. It's a solid, but very feature basic fishing kayak but is plenty stable for my 200 pounds self.  It served me well in learning how to kayak in general and let me get in on the action for around $400. I'm very glad I went with the more basic yak first, as if I had dived right into the high end I would've ended up with an 80 pound monster boat that would not  have really suited my actual needs.   Even if you're able to demo the brands you were talking about, which are all quite good, do a little looking around see if you can find an intro one for a good price. I checked craigslist every once in a while looking for them and even basic fishing kayaks seem to hold their value pretty well if you end up wanting to upgrade once you get your needs/wants worked out.

Thanks for the advice I've owned kayaks before a sot and also a sit in beginner models for both and wanted something a more comfortable easier to track and also more storage and lastly ability to stand since most of my. Waters are very slow moving for a majority and most of the local lakes are trolling. Motor only

Oh well then I definitely recommend trying the native lawn chair seat, it is probably the most comfortable lawnchair I've ever sat in, kayak mounted or not.  10 footer does not have a ton of storage, but the 12 has a generous amount.

Its such a tough choice I went and looked at both brands and styles and the NuCanoe and got to sit in them but sadly little too cold for demo yet but for all in the same price range it's tough I guess what it will come down to is on the water granted I like the native being slightly shorter width wise
