hoosierbass07 Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 So did anybody watch the MLF final competition on Saturday? Wow, that was entertaining. That's the way it should be - six of the best top guns going at it, and everybody was close to the end except KVD. Mike Iaconelli was freaking out near the end, banging his head on the boat after catching a bass. lol. You got to give it to him for being entertaining. Way to go Iaconelli! Still, I was wondering how come we didn't see any of the lower guys go after a really big bass, say three or four pounds, and try to catch up to Iaconelli. Then I got to thinking, maybe there are no giant bass where they were fishing. Anyway, MLF is the best bass fishing competition on TV! 2 Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 This season has been excellent and it was great seeing such a passionate local guy win. This series is still by far the best in tournament fishing and the quality of anglers in the final was ridiculous. Andy Montgomery is a young dude with a ton of upside, basically fishing in a crowd of legends. 1 Quote
razor6570 Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 I agree awesome show. That was a stacked final! Biggest names in bass fishing. Congrats to Ike! Glad that he showed emotion on the win, showed true respect for his competition! Love the show, best tournament show out there. Quote
nocluefisher Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I watched every week, would DVR it so I could skip the commercials. One of my favorite outdoor shows. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 21, 2017 Global Moderator Posted March 21, 2017 Really surprised KVD never got on a jerkbait bite for smallmouth. They probably just didn't show it but it didn't even seem like he fished it much. I was just positive it was only a matter of time before he figured that out and ran away with it. It felt like everyone except KVD had a shot at winning at one point or another, made it really exciting. Congrats to Ike for keeping it together and making the right adjustments to close out the deal. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted March 21, 2017 Super User Posted March 21, 2017 Ike was really putting on a show. But what amazed me was except for KVD the positions of the anglers switched a lot from period 1 to period 3. That's the great part about the show. No one is ever out of it. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted March 21, 2017 Global Moderator Posted March 21, 2017 At one point there was 5 pounds separating first from fifth! That really was a great show. I think KVD's biggest downfall that day was the fact that he's KVD. He made the comment that the sun wasn't out and that would hurt the small mouth bite. He's the man when it comes to small mouth (large mouth too) he took a gamble and tried to get on a school of them but it just didn't work for him. I was glad to see ike pull it off and win. The past couple years he's gotten back to the Ike of old. He's settled down some, yes he can still be a spaz but it seems like since he remarried and had a couple more kids he's more focused and I think we'll see more good things come from Ike. 1 Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 MLF really hit on a good formula. I found my DVR recorded an FLW hour long tournament. I tried watching it and it was OK but I skipped thru most of it. With MLF, the field is much smaller and you get to know the competitors better. Quote
