Whats everyones thoughts on companies like reel snot and their products. Anyone personally use it? I see they came out with a coffee oil infused one and claim bass love coffee. Is there any base to that claim?

I use the original Reel Snot, love it on my baitcasters. Haven't tried the "fish attractant" Java one they are making.

It is a line conditioner mainly, but may have some lubricating effects on the spool?

I'm dubious of their claim that this is a "reel lubricant."  Looks like a line conditioner to me.  Never tried it.  I've always used KVD L&L.

Does it really help with mono? and line memory?

I use the original Reelsnot and yes it does help with line memory.  It helps with mono, braid, and fluoro memory.  It helps to make the line a bit slipperier so you can get a longer cast. I do like it a bit better than say KVD. I have not tried the coffee stuff yet. My recommendation is to use it when you first spool your line and then it helps to occasionally cast the rod and add some more as you reel in the line. let it set and then use the rod the next day.

I've used reel snot and the braid aid stuff I can't remember the actual name of it... it's on TW but they both work great I noticed I little bit more distance and it REALLY helped with my cranking reel with flouro on it. I tend to stick with reel snot my self no particular reason other then they are local to me

The point is that the package says NON-FLAMMABLE, lol.

So, you have to spend $23 to save $1?  Good to know, though.

My internet won't load the video, but right on the front of my can of Real Magic it says, "DANGER: EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE."

Real Magic

I'm glad you spelled it right.  Stuff is about as good for a reel as WD-40.

You probably have the aerosol can with the warning.  The video shows the pump bottle.

Anyway, there's enough testimonies for good results with Reelsnot that I'll probably give it a try.

I understand you can buy 1 gallon of kvd for $75.

But , 32 oz of 303 for $23  vs  16 oz of kvd for $20.

I'd be willing bet good money it's the same stuff.

You might be right.  I thought the 8 oz. bottles were $5.99?  Maybe that's wrong, and they're 4 oz. bottles.  Anyway, I have four or five bottle all over the place.  The stuff goes pretty far.  I think it's pretty funny that we'll spend on rods, reels, and baits, but when it comes to a $6 bottle of line conditioner, that's here we draw the line.  Especially if the stuff works great.

at my local shop it's $8 or $9 for a 4 oz bottle , same price online.

kvd comes in 4 oz , 16 oz and 1 gallon. you could really save some money if you buy a gallon of kvd , although I have no idea what the shelf life is..

I doubt I'd go through a gallon.  I usually grab a bottle at Bass Pro.  One of my bottles still has the $5.99 sticker on it.  Maybe it's gone up (edit: it has, holy cow $12!).  I've been told that the BPS brand is the same product, for $8.50.  Still pretty inexpensive when you consider the benefits and how little of the product you use.  It's probably four squirts to pre-treat the spool the line comes on.  And a squirt or two after every trip.

Another thought...Batson had a wipe on product.  You wiped it on and tossed the wipe.  They sent me some to evaluate, and it was the best for keeping ice off guides.  If any formed, I'd just thump the rod handle, and it come off.  I've tried everything, from Pam, to WD-40, to KVD L&L.  The L&L worked pretty well, but would wear off after a couple hours.  The Batson wipes were the best, lasted for hours, and even prevented ice from forming by shedding the water.  Icy guides is just part of the winter steelhead game up here, this benefit probably doesn't apply to many bass fisherman on here.

I'm rambling, now....  carry on!

KVD works great for me and easily available.

I use the ardent stuff it's pretty good but that's basing that on not using anything else.  One guys said it's the worst so I guess I'll have to try something else since I thought it was decent

KVD L&L is all I use and works great, if anyone wants to go in halves on a gallon of KVD, let me know.
