I'm doing research on both Reels. I think the Lews would be the better buy. How many of you would buy a Lews LFS for 75 dollars and change?

For $75, I'd buy another one. There's nothing wrong with them, they are smooth, and the drags are good. If I was in the market for another one I'd ****** it up.

Is there any difference in the $100 to the 130 model?

The tournament mb? The my has dual brakes, 14 pounds of max drag, some cool looking gold trim :D I am actually looking to buy an mb soon, I already have an lfs and it's a good reel, I'm going to use the lfs on a moderate fast rod for treble hook baits and the mb for frogging and single hook stuff.

Lews all day long....I had both and lews wins on all fronts. If you can come up with the extra money the MB is sweet. I have several.

The MB can be found for $108.  A no brainer.

I also use Lew's. I have several LFS and several Tournament MBs.  All 5 have been excellent performers. I just like the MBs better for some reason maybe its because I know they cost a tad bit more who knows but there is a stronger drag and a nice finish to the reel so maybe those reasons help. I would go with the MB over the LFS unless it was just a budget issue. Even then id probably save a little more and get the MB.

As for the Okuma Cerros I can't comment good or bad I never had one and don't see one in my near future unless Okuma is giving me one to try.

IMHO the Cerros leaves alot to be desired. The lews lfs and mb do not leave you wishing and they get better as they get used. What you end up with is a missile sending no back lashing dependable reel that is really easy to take care of.

both the LFS and MB are great reels. I would give the nod to the MB because it has harder side plates. this will translate into a more sensitive reel. but once again, nothing wrong with the LFS. great performing reel at a great price. as far as the okuma. Never used one. played around with a helios a few weeks back and I was not impressed.

This whole Site is all about Lews reels. I can get a brand new, Revo Sx for 75 bucks now. It's kinda hard to pass up that deal. I never fished with a Lews reel. One of you guys can ship me out a (LH) Baitcaster you don't use anymore..

I fished ABU prior to my lews and shimano overhaul. I will stay with those 2 brands bc I am more than happy with them.

I like Abu Garcia. When i started out with bait Casters about 4 years ago. Dicks had a Black Max combo for 60 bucks. I bought it, and only have one Bait Caster (Dawia)  that's not Abu Garcia. i think that'll great Reels. I think some that complain about the reels breaking are youngsters. parents buy them a Reel, and they have no clue, the value of a dollar. Till this day, that Black Max still works. I actually still fish with it.

I'm still trying to figure out how Abu became a choice?

I'm in between these 2 Reels. I need some help picking between these 2.

And the title of the thread was "Lews Speed Spool LFS or Okuma Cerros". So if you didn't like Lew's to start with why even ask.

Thinking about trying Lews out. Then i saw a Revo for 75 bucks new. I've been a Abu gear guy for a while. Tough on what to do. Just like you guys buying a reel that wasn't a Lews.

If I had been researching and was down to two as I would have thought based on your post. It would not to tough for me to buy something else if the something else was better statistically ie stronger drag, lighter weight, more compact easier to Palm, and a boatload of people who use them stating one was better.

Believe me this site is far from a "Lew's" site. Make a post with a Daiwa or Shimano vs Lew's and the fanitics come out like cockroaches at a cheap  motel. But your thread title kind a asked for people with Lew's experiences to respond as well as Okuma. So that is what you got.

No one can make the choice for you but don't ask one thing then bash if you didn't like the answer and then ask us to give you a reel. That reals of trolling.

I have no experience with Lews. They may be a great reel. I have no clue. Everyone will have, good and bad experiences with a certain company they pick. Maybe I'll find a good deal on a Lews and buy one.

Man if that ain't the truth!

It sounds like you should go to a store and handle some reels to see which ones fit you best. I'm sure the performance aspect of three different manufacturers $100 reels will be similar, but the way they fit you might make a big difference.

I had both, the Cerros is still going but the Lew's was KIA. It was very loud and sticky towards the end of it's life. Cerros is still functioning perfectly.
