airborne_angler Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I have been looking at my newly acquired aluminum 10 ft flat bottom boat and thinking of repainting it. Currently its white on the outside and light blue on the inside. I wanna give it an outdoorsy scheme. Whats a good color to paint it. Im gonna do it with rattle cans(spray cans). I was looking at doing an flat olive drab exterior and a flat tan inside. What are somethings I should consider when choosing a paint scheme? Or are there noconsiderations involved. I dont wanna go white because im gonna get cooked on the water and it will really be tough on the eyes. Are darker colors better for stealthyness? Quote
cravenfish Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 With only a 10' boat, I would think you are limited to small ponds. Paint it whatever you want. THE FISHERMAN CATCHES THE FISH , not his boat. BUT if the water is clear fish do spook from shadows and they can see yhe bottom of your boat. I've had black, grey, red and now a white bottom boat and I can't tell you which is best. There have been alot of articals about bottom colors, but to me it seems like the only time I'm real concerned about it is when I'm sight fishing. Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 21, 2006 Super User Posted September 21, 2006 Light gray is a good color for the interior, dark colors trap a lot of heat and since the interior is exposed to strong sunlight.......then you sit down and YIKES ! > ----> severe case of hemorroids, if you don 't have you develop them, if you have them then your behind starts to look like a baboon 's rear end. White creates a lot of glare. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted September 21, 2006 Super User Posted September 21, 2006 I was going to paint my boat to look like a largemouth bass on the outside ........ Green w/ a black diamond shaped line. Quote
