Hey everyone!

I have a strange jig here.. I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of jig it is? The head looks almost like a swimjig but with that the jig does not have an eye to tie to. The line feeds thru the jig head and out the bottom of it. What kind of knot would you use or would you put like a swivel at the bottom to prevent the knot from coming thru the hole?

Anyways thanks for any help you are able to offer..

On every bait that I've ever seen that has the line pass through the bait, you tie a hook on the end of the line.

Is it a skirted punch weight? If there is no hook on it that would be my guess.

If it's not that my guess is it's hook eye was broken off.

Broken spinnerbait

No it's not a broken spinnerbait and it has a hook and hook guard just like a jig does I'm guessing it's a 3/0 or 4/0 hook that it has.. it has every characteristic of a jig only it has the hole going thru the head instead of an eye to tie it to.

I remember this jig.  Mid to late. 80's - forget the manufacturer.   Included with the bait as a smallish split ring.  The correct rigging was to run your line through the bait ( start at the nose to the  exit on the bottom of the head as shown. Now,  tie the line to the split ring and run the split ring over the hook and then everything was snug.   Worked great.  It was a good vegetation, brush jig.

Seems to me that it was called the "Weed Sneek" or something like that.  I still have a few of them but I haven't fished them in over a decade

I concur with "Fishes in Trees" - The split ring is tied on the end of your line, then the hook is passed thru the split ring to secure the jig to the mainline. Can't remember the name of these jigs, but they are very effective from a snagproof point of view. I think I may have a couple in a box somewhere? LOL! :)

@Fishes in trees nailed it.  I think it was made by Blue Fox Lures and called a "Weed Sneak".

Got one of em somewhere around here ;)

Thanks everyone for the help! That would explain why I can't find any info on it if it was from the 80's guessing I got it as a Christmas present from my dad..

Nope it wasn't a weed sneak.  I have a bunch of weed sneaks.  They had a colored plastic cone you fed the line through and then tied to the jig eye.  the cone snugged down over it and protected the knot.  Love these and still have a couple dozen.  Bought a load of em on clearance once that got stolen in a major break in a couple years back.

I have some of the others too....I remember the packaging but can't remember the brand....I'll figure it out....

There was a company called Vertical that made a jig x where you put the line through the head like a bullet weight.  The actual hook eye was underneath where the collar sets. I am looking at this with my phone so I can't view your pictures very well to see.

It is a Berkley slip jig, you put the line through the hole and then tie to a size 3 split ring. You then take the split ring and put it over the hook and pull the line tight so the split ring is against the collar. If it is the Berkley model it will have a ball collar that the split ring will be seated against.

Agreed, I shouldn't need an engineering degree to tie on a jig.

The Weed Sneek didn't have a hole running through the head, rather it had a plastic bullet shaped cap, like a bullet weight, that slid on the line first before tying it to the jig eye, then the plastic cap would snap over the jig eye. Was my favorite jig of all time, best weedless jig I ever used and it hardly ever got snagged
