Super User A-Jay Posted March 18, 2017 Super User Posted March 18, 2017 So that's where jerkbaits go to die then. I always wondered. Might be time to fish a fluke. A-Jay 3 Quote

They're very close to the weight of the stock hooks. Not much changes except the hooks are a lot shsrper. Quote
georgeyew Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I wonder how those jerkbaits fish without the bills? Topwater jerk? 1 Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 That must have been an expensive day... At least you weren't throwing megabass vision 110s at $25 a pop. 13 minutes ago, georgeyew said: I wonder how those jerkbaits fish without the bills? Topwater jerk? Suspending jerkbaits with broken bills don't stay on top very well, but I have a few floating jerkbaits with broken bills that fish as spooks pretty good. One of them actually worked better after the bill had broken mostly off. Quote
38 Super Fan Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Dang! I think I might have broke one hard jerkbait in the last couple years, and I throw them all the time. Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted March 19, 2017 Super User Posted March 19, 2017 That's strange how those jerkbaits broke, maybe they where made bad? I got jerkbaits(different brand than ones shown) that are several years old that have caught me plenty of decent fish and these jerkbaits have never broken. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted March 19, 2017 Super User Posted March 19, 2017 Unfortunately, that's the cost of doing 'bidness. But I feel your pain...$75 down the drain this winter - the one you can't see had to be broken off because I couldn't get it free. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted March 21, 2017 Super User Posted March 21, 2017 1st cast caught a bass, very next cast catch another. 3rd catch she comes back with no bill 1 Quote
noway Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I find you can break the bill by slapping the water trying to clear weeds. Quote

No weeds in this lake, or many of our lakes for that matter. 10 hours ago, thebillsman said: Inexcusable. You like the EWGs? Nope, that was my brother in laws bait on the bottom. Top one I'd swapped out on a day that I went through 3 sets of hooks due to a huge school of wipers, just hadn't ever changed them back. I use round bend on jerkbaits because I feel like it hooks fish better if they just slap at the bait. I use EWG's on baits like squarebills and traps that they usually inhale better. Quote
