How do they compare? What do you like?

I wouldng wouldn't even consider the Revo. The Tat Ct is a far superior reel and can be had for around $100 for the base model. This model also is more compact and palms better than the original Tat.

I agree.  But I'm Daiwa biased even though years ago I had several Revo SX gen 1's and liked them.  The braking system on the Daiwa is just flat out superior in my opinion and makes for better control.

Thanks, guys. Price drop on Revo has me wondering. Been aware of Daiwa's braking reputation, but don't own any.

Tatula is a bigger profile reel. I have small hands and it took some getting used to. I now use it for walking baits and poppers, it casts a country mile. I sold my only Gen 3 SX. Not because I didn't like it, but I was made a great offer for it. The Tatula casts further and is more forgiving. The SX needs to be dialed in a little bit more. Did I mention the Tatula casts a country mile?

Braking, not breaking.  I do have one Shimano, an old Bantam Mag that I've loved for some 30+ years now. I have several ABU's and admit their magnetics scarcely work by comparison.

Daiwa and Abu Garcia are great reel companies. You can not go wrong either way. Don't let the Revos price drop scare you. The Revo is a great reel. The Daiwa is a larger profile reel. I'll say this, the Daiwa isn't as smooth as the Revo. I have both reels and i like both.

Tatula CT. I'm sure I'm going to make a few people mad, but personally, I think revos are garbage (compared to other brands)

Shimano and Daiwa. I had a Lews SS1H (standard speed spool, old model). within a month, the worm gear went out, the gears felt like they had sand in them (even after regreasing), the paint kept chipping off, and to top it off, the spool bearing shattered. (I then tried replacing it and broke the spool pin off inside the shaft, I ordered a new spool from Lews, which never arrived. I then called them back, they told me they would send me another one, which didnt show up. I'm 99.9% sure they have the right address. I ended up filing a chargeback with my bank after they quit responding to my emails, and would tell me they would call me back)

 

Bit of a long speel, and take that with a grain of salt. I'm sure Lews make a fine reel, but the one I received definitely wasnt it.
