Got the first one of 2017 today, probably a 35" fish. 41 degree water and icy guides made for an interesting hour or so that I was out. I was walleye fishing with a 4" swing impact on a 1/4oz head, fish was hooked right in the corner of the mouth and my 10lb mono didn't have a scratch on it after the whole ordeal! This is the second musky that my little Calcutta 50 has bested B)

Beautiful.  You seem to do well with the moon eye jig set up.  Do you take your PFD off for the pics?  NY requires PFDs for the winter and spring months, probably no similar regs down south where you are.

I enjoy your posts as I'm happy to catch different species when out on the water as well.

Great cold weather fish! It's been killing me not being able to get out.  Some of my favorite stretches have been giving up 9-11lb walleye and I've been too busy with everything else to get on the water.

Nice toothy fish. but i got to tell ya, i noticed your not wearing a life jacket, in those frigid waters on a yak your taking a big risk. Especially when your dealing with landing big fish. If you lost balance and fell in it could be real bad. My yak year I wore a life vest every time, (night fishing, big lake, cold river) its just part of the gear with kayak fishing. I don't mean to lecture you but I gotta make the point.

Man, that looks raw.  Muskie season doesn't even legally open here in Minnesota until June 10.

WOW!  If any angler picked the perfect name, it was "everythingthatswims"
