Going to be up at Lake James for the first time in mid April and looking for bass. From my research it looks like a clear water lake. Also being in the far northern section of the state I will not be expecting the water to be to warm.

Can any one offer it good pointers for these waters?

James is connected to some other waters, are they different or all pretty much the same? Any lures they really crack on?

I'm not looking to steal anyone's spot but any guidance on areas to look would be very much appreciated.

Are you going up for the Indiana Kayak Anglers' tournament on April 15? I've never fished Lake James -- and my wife is expected to give birth to our 2nd kid any day now so I probably won't make it to the tournament -- but if that's where you're headed, good luck!

Congrats on the baby!

Yes I'm going for the IKA event. I plan on going up the first weekend of April to prefish the waters and have a better idea where to start. Then I'll be up there the day before to hone in on the key spots.

I just took a look at the results. Hot diggity! You came in 21st out of 71 anglers - That's a great start to the season!

I plan on being at the next event -- on Morse Reservoir. Give me a shout if you're going to be there, too.

Thanks, you could tell by the results it was a tough day. The wind shifted and came up strong and there wasn't a cloud in the sky.

only 41 caught any fish, only 26 caught a limit. I lost my biggest one right at the kayak and also lost my identifier and had to paddle for an hour to get a new one.

Considering this was my first tournament I guess I can't be to disappointed.

I will be at Morse and hope to see you there.
