I just picked up 1/0 VMC spin shot hooks for $2.00 a pack at my Walmart. I got 20 packs. I  guess I will be drop shotting more this year.

Go back on Saturday they'll most likely be cut in half again. I picked up boocoo Gammies in the beginning of the last week on clearance. Went back on Saturday to pick the grandsons up a bunch of Super Spots and the hooks were 50% less again. Just check it out again if its not far out of the way.

Does every Wal Mart have a clearance aisle?  And is this clearance aisle near the fishing section or is it in another part of the store with a bunch of other clearance stuff like holiday stuff?

no they don't. most do have them and you will know it when you see it cause its a wreck. its just a huge junk aisle. ask an associate if they have one and keep a very sharp eye for stuff. i didn't see the stuff last night until i moved some stuff.

Here's my Walmart haul.  I went back today and picked up more.  That I didn't need, but I convinced myself I needed more backup.

The Rattlin raps will use like any other lipless crank.  Yo yo or ripping or even a standard retrieve.  Scatter rap I'd prob use in more open water as I would think if I fished it like a square bill through a stump field might be an issue with snags.

The Scatter Raps really have a tendency to kick out wide and I've grown to like them for covering water on rocky flats.  They mimic a scurrying crayfish well and you can lightly weight the front hook to create a slower rise.  It's a pretty nifty crankbait.

I am going to have to go back and recheck my local stores.

For those who may not have realized, this is a nationwide clearance sale (actually, two, since Canada is having its own sale, as shown in posts from @Mumbly and @lmbfisherman).

There is almost always some kind of store-specific clearance and/or old clearance stock left in the system and "rotting away" on the floor at any given WW.

However, the current thread was started and the fire is being fed by an ongoing, nationwide effort to refresh WW's fishing inventory, and in many cases significantly reset individual stores.  At least, that's my take after a little cross-country field research.  I also grabbed $3 green senko packs at some store way out in the midwest.

I believe that there is effectively a "list" of potential products on sale across the country.  Which specific items are on sale in a given store will depending on many factors, the store's inventory vs planned inventory, foot traffic, etc.

The items dropped progressively in price over the past two months.  That means you might have missed the boat in a heavy traffic store when some item, say a Yumbrella rig, went from $13.xx to $9.00 and all were snapped up.  It also means that some great deals remain out there, but your success may vary widely.

Some stores that really specialize in fishing will have a larger selection and potential chance to have stuff left (e.g. Bandit 100 and 200 cranks for $1 each, but good luck finding a WW store that carries Bandit cranks).  I used to know of one such rare store, but I can say with certainty none are left due to the clearance.  :D

Plenty of stores, of course, will have next to nothing on sale.

An interesting thing is that some stores have already put tackle that was on deep clearance back on the floor, neatly arranged on pegs, at full price!

As for where you'll find the clearance stuff?  Might be a clearance aisle, but in many cases, will be in or adjacent to the fishing section.  Depends on the store.

Rods, I suspect, are not going through an identical clearance process to the tackle, because the selection of rods on sale seems to be limited.

At this point, it is late in the sale.  Recently I got an email that said "last chance for clearance!"  I wonder where the failed (i.e. not sold) clearance goes?  I don't yet have an answer for that one.  I have, on more than one occasion, stood at the checkout with say, a KVD crankin rod that has wallowed at the back for at least a year, or a pink saltwater spook in Iowa, or ice fishing line in south Florida (that one blew my mind), only to be told the product is not in the system and the product needs to be whisked away to "collections" as if it is hazardous material, presumably to go to the island of lost and forgotten tackle.

Good luck!

auctions or something. There is a couple out by me that holds a large yard sale a few times a year and has 2 enclosed car haulers full of hunting, fishing and camping stuff and everything is new in packages. I got several spools of line for cheap, broadheads, vests, clothes, calls, etc all very cheap. I try and support them when I see them out. I asked where they got all the stuff and pretty much got a half axx answer and by looking at it the items all came from Walmart.

Well, when you see them pull up and unpack KVD and Jason Christie crankin rods and a couple of pink spooks, let them know you've got a buddy in GA that's been waiting to get reunited with "his" stuff, bargain hard with them and make them an offer they can't refuse.  I'm ready to drive up to Ohio to get those pink spooks back!  ;)

Went back to a local Wal Mart and asked if they had a clearance aisle, lady pointed me at a section with some clearance balloons and I got excited...until I walked over and saw nothing but candles and some kitchen/houseware items.  No clearance out here on the west coast yet!

Finally got one of these awesome Walmart deals I keep hearing about. Did some searching online and found that a few of the stores here had the 6'-6" MH Lighting Rod Shock for $9. Picked up three of them.

Looks like a great find and I am glad you were able to find them. Tulsa has always been tricky for me finding sale items. I always seem to be a bit late.

Went and checked a smaller Walmart that I had forgotten about and I am glad I did. They didn't have much but picked up 3 items. The purple ghost I was really excited about.

Last trip to Walmart today as the clearance blitz on fishing gear seems to be dying out.

I scored a 7' M/F Abu Garcia Vigilante casting rod for $19.00 This rod is fantastic looking and the action seems to be just what I was looking for in a baitcasting rod.

I tried for another berkley shock in store pick up but after making me wait 3 days they sent me an email message saying this item is out of stock.

I gave up on the power pro going any lower than $12

just got home from there. 2 nights ago they had about 15 spools of 30lbs fireline, 10-15 spools of 14bs fireline and some others mixed in. all are gone today. It kind of annoyed me cause I needed 1-2 of them and now someone will sell them at the flee market or online. those spools were $4. a lot of big game mono and Cajun mono in the high test ratings and some in the 10-14lbs. seems like its almost over as far as deals. I need to find a cheaper rod for crankbaits as someones giving me another baitcaster. I have the medium heavy shock rod but was told its not good for crankbaits.

75 cents a pack for the hooks and a dollar per spool for the line! They had way more than what I bought but I should be set for the decade.
