I picked up a Bass Mafia Bait Coffin (the deep one) yesterday, here's what I determined:

It sounded like a great storage concept but I found it about 1/2" too shallow for many of my minnow-style baits.  So I tried using it for my regular cranks and found that while they store a lot in a small space it's hard to determine which lure you're looking for, your only view of them is from the nose end.  So reluctantly I'm going to return the unit today and pick up a few 3700's instead.

Great concept, did not work for my particular application.  Your comments?

I was looking at them a Cabela's after the holiday and that was my thought. I just picked up the bulk pk. of Planos. I don't have a problem with the price but thought it was expensive to not know what it was seeing. Will say the quality of them were nice.

I'd look at the regular depth one for jighead and weight storage.  After having a 3700 fall from table height to a carpeted floor and explode, I'm looking for stiffer and stronger box.  But $30....  eeeesh.

i have a smaller one and deeper one.  the smaller one is the ticket for terminal tackle, i love it.  however, i'm like you in that i just don't love the deeper version.  i have my cranks in there, but it can be difficult to really see what you're working with, especially in low light conditions!

The crank coffin has a deep lid not flat like the bait coffin. You can stand up 40 something 8XDs in that thing.

I've read a lot of reports of the latches breaking easily. That's put me off from trying one. I do have 2 of the weight coffins that are really nice.

I have the regular 3700 box that I use for jigs, and the deep coffin that I use for cranks and some topwater baits (can get some smaller jerkbaits to stand up in there too but can just remove a few dividers and lay some down if needed for longer ones). I can fit a lot more in these than I can in the comparable size Plano boxes, so they are very efficient for when I'm bank fishing and trying to fit as much as I can into a backpack.

Instead of buying the terminal coffin, I just bought the filler packs and will throw one for hooks and one for weights loose in my pack and this takes up very little room with minimal weight.

I have not had any problem with the latches, knock on wood, and the boxes are very durable. They are a little heavy, but I consider it a fair trade off since I can get the same amount in one of these as I can in 3 to 4 3700 Plano boxes. They are pricey though.
