HiVoltage Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 Hey guys, i picked up a duckett ghost at field and stream tonight. Long story short a diesel can slid onto it in the bed of the truck and cracked the clear glue on one of the upper 3 eyelets. Is there a product out there i can use to seal it back up? Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted March 15, 2017 Super User Posted March 15, 2017 No need. I'd worry that the blank is cracked. Guide wraps are covered with rod wrapping epoxy. Quote
HiVoltage Posted March 15, 2017 Author Posted March 15, 2017 I dont believe the blank is cracked. The eyelet got tweaked back and i believe thats what cracked the glue. Quote
nameiztaken Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 Clear nail polish, clearcoat touchup from a auto store, etc. 1 hour ago, Paul Roberts said: No need. I'd worry that the blank is cracked. Guide wraps are covered with rod wrapping epoxy. Woah! your profile picture is awesome! Quote
Super User MickD Posted March 15, 2017 Super User Posted March 15, 2017 I would recommend putting something on the crack to seal water out. If it gets in, in time, it will deteriorate the wrap and the integrity of the current wrap epoxy (not hardware store epoxy!). The best material is, as mentioned, wrap epoxy sold by rodbuilding suppliers, but not having anything else to buy, the shipping will kill you. The best nail polish to use, I believe, is the Sally Hansen clear hard coat designed to protect decorated fingernails. It may provide some UV protection, not sure. But it is clear and strong. I'd check on it occasionally to see that it's holding up well. If the wrap becomes foggy looking, water is getting in. Quote

LMAO. when we first moved in together, my wife complained about me taking her nail polish, nail clippers and nail files, then she started hiding them, and then she started buying them for me. We'll be celebrating our 20th next month. My ex fiancee used to say I fished too much... 1 Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted March 15, 2017 Super User Posted March 15, 2017 I just buy my own, and some fancy colors too. This is a fishing town here (trout fly-fishing mostly). At the check-out counter at the beauty stores, the girls look at me and say, "Fisherman, huh?" Quote
