Brett's_daddy Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Well, things up here in Vermont were still frigid but there wasn't any snow on the ground, lakes and ponds still frozen over for most part but signs of Spring were coming...heard a flock of Canada geese returning from their southern journey the other day and my allergies were starting to kick in alerting me that there must be plant activity starting to stir up some pollen but in general despite those things you got the sense that Spring was just around the corner and with that bass season not far behind. My how things change! Now we are about to get Snowmageddon part 2. I work for the State of Vermont and we never close (as we are civil servants and all) but today all offices close at 12 noon. The latest forecast has a blizzard warning out and they are saying by tomorrow evening we could have 24" - 30" of snow on the ground . And that my friends is why bass fishing will be on hold for me...lol. 3 Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 14, 2017 Super User Posted March 14, 2017 WOW....and I thought our 15" - 20" of predicted snow with this storm was big! LOL! Quote

Super User RoLo Posted March 14, 2017 Super User Posted March 14, 2017 Today in Florida, we averaged around 68 deg Fahrenheit. HOWEVER, we're expected to plummet into the 30s tonight!! There goes my tomato garden 3 Quote
bassguytom Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 I'm with you. I had the snow blower in the shed and was ready to get in the game. Pulled the snow blower out last night and am still on the sidelines. I see no window to fish for the next 10 days. Quote
Big-Bass Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 We got 30" today...yes I said that right 30 INCHES! We are expected another 6-8" tonight and the wind is howling so my two trips outside with the snowblower today are definitely moot points with all the drifting. I was fishing from a boat though on 2/27 so who knows what is going on with weather. I have never been in a boat in February and this year marked the first for that and I have never seen March snow (or any snow in one day) like this before. Stay warm everyone! Best wishes on the water! Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted March 15, 2017 Super User Posted March 15, 2017 You northern guys would get a good laugh at some of the people in South Florida that dress in layers whenever the temperate drops below 65 degrees. 4 Quote

kroberts9 Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 lol so true my brother lives in South West Florida and when he comes back to visit he burrows a thermal and a hooded sweatshirt for a beautiful fall night. hell I'm in shorts in any temp above freezing. Raymond NH we just got 20-25" Quote

Same here, but most South Florida residents are like Iguanas and they dont like anything colder than 60-65 degrees. 2 Quote

RAMBLER Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 The forecast for tonight is 29 degrees. I don't know how I'm going to protect the garden and all the plants. I didn't move to Florida for this. Went fishing for a little while, yesterday. The water was 10-15 degrees warmer than the air. Caught one mudfish and watched a guy catch a 4 lb 11 oz bass off of a bed. The wind was blasting but could find some protected places in the river. 2 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted March 15, 2017 Super User Posted March 15, 2017 I'll try to post a pic my Mr. Greenjeans mail box, he was killed in the Nor'easter yesterday. Was not hit by the snow plow, plow was not even that close but I guess he could not hold up to the weight and mass of the snow being thrown. RIP. I'll order a new one tonight. He's a legend up here where I live. Quote
lonnie g Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 stay safe my friend. SNOW YUCK!! that would even want to make an ice fisher stay home. Quote
Hawkeye21 Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 Yuck. I got 5 inches on Monday and I was not happy. I had told the wife I was done shoveling for this winter but I had to break down and do it as it wasn't going to get warm enough for it to melt right away. Was 1 degree when I went to work this morning. I was just out on my kayak fishing a little over a week ago too. So frustrating. As for those who live in the south and can't handle the cold I do find it humorous. My brother lives in Houston and while he can handle the cold when he comes back because he grew up here it's funny how his wife and kids handle it when they are back. If it's below 70 degrees they are cold. If it's above freezing and sunny for me it's no jacket weather. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 15, 2017 Super User Posted March 15, 2017 Well, we ended up not getting quite as much as predicted. About 12" - 15", which took me about 3 hours to snowblow and shovel out! Here are a couple of pictures for you folks down in FL. LOL! Hmmm.....the downloader will not allow me to post more than one picture. Oh well. 1 Quote
Brett's_daddy Posted March 15, 2017 Author Posted March 15, 2017 Yup, we ended up only getting about 15" or so...kind of hard to tell as it was so windy that the snow was drifted everywhere. They say we might get another 3" - 6" on Saturday but that could also have some freezing rain mixed in :(. Quote

Hopefully it warms up and melts all of that nasty stuff pretty quick. Quote
