Spider Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Hi all I just purchased one of these rods a medium heavy fast action 7.3 baitcaster. I know there is a lot of blah on these rods, but it was $50.00 new, so couldn't pass it up, they are discontinued I guess. I have another Compre Medium power that has not failed me yet, I use the medium for light lures. I looked around before purchase, and did not see a lot posted about the IM9 blanks, what is your feelings on these. It feels light and balanced with my Lew's BB1. This was to retire a HMG MH, that is 27 years old now "I don't want to break it, and it's not light by today's standards". Thanks for your time and feedback. Quote
Spider Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 I apologize if my post wasn't clear. I have used the search here and the articles were all old or for the IM8 version of the Compre. I also googled about IM9 blanks and I'm not finding a lot about the IM9 rod blanks. If anyone has some information please share it. Thank you. Quote
blckshirt98 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 As far as I know there is no industry standard for IM-8, IM-9, etc, but within whatever labeling system Shimano uses the IM-9 should be more sensitive than the IM-8. Best bet is to just use it and see how you like it! https://www.flwfishing.com/tips/2003-12-19-graphite-rods 1 Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted March 14, 2017 Super User Posted March 14, 2017 At that price that is a good deal. It will serve you well as a work horse rod. 2 Quote
Spider Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 I appreciate the feedback. I actually like the rod, fished with it this last Sunday, and for the money I feel it was well worth it. But when I went to see what the IM9 was I drew a blank. Hadn't seen IM9 before. Thanks for the reply's Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 15, 2017 Super User Posted March 15, 2017 No help on the new blank, but I thought I got a good deal for $75 on the older model. Nice score. 1 Quote
