Hey everyone. I'm in Delray for the week, and where I'm staying is right on a run off from the c-15 canal. https://www.google.com/maps/@26.4271615,-80.085407,66a,20y,57.21h,45.12t/data=!3m1!1e3 <---This Is the canal I'll be fishing from. I tried fishing it today with some stick baits and a shad imitator, but only got one hit on the stick bait. My question basically is: what can I catch here and how.

Thanks

Can't go wrong with a spinnerbait in canals in South Florida catches aggressive fish, covers  alot of water and catches alot of different species.Best of luck!!

I see peacocks right around some pipes off the side of the canal, but whenever i drop my stick bait, they all scatter

Try throwing lures for peacocks.. they like a lot of erratic action as well as bright colors. Suspending jerk baits work great. Just about anything, soft plastics, topwater, divers etc, will catch large mouth around here too. Also try using live bait for peacocks.

I live on Lake Ida and have caught plenty of bass there. If all else fails get some live shiners and you can't go wrong. There is also a guy that runs charters out of Lake Ida and catches tons of fish, I have never gone with him but see him all the time if you are interested in that.

If you are going to fish for peacock with a stick bait, don't work it like a stick bait. Work it like a fluke. A 4" stick-o in watermelon red weightless working it like a fluke should get you some peacock strikes. They don't like when the bait stops though. Bass will hit when you stop a bait. Peas will turn away and go home.
