Has anyone used this knot? I can't find an actual name for it except drop shot knot.

Was fiddling around on YouTube and came acrossed it just search drop shot knot and it's the first one that pops up with a hook and red line.

just looking for alternatives to the palomar knot as the few times I have used fluorocarbon I'm not a fan of the palomar but I don't know any other knot to tie for drop shot.

I use floro with a palomar knot quite a bit, I don't have issues.  Just lube the line with your own spit where the knot will be tied and make sure you cinch it down carefully.

However, if your not confident in using a palomar knot with floro, then don't. Find and use what gives you confidence.

Yep. I've used it, but the jury is still out for me. Have not

used it a lot as it's still relatively new for me. There's also

the drop shot knot where the only knot is the one to tie

on the weight. Gary Senft is the inventor, I believe.

In that one, you slip one bobber stopper up the line, then

your hook (no knot), then one or two bobber stoppers under

the hook.

Set the hook as you normally would, and it will slide all the

way to the weight... I *may* try it, but I'm confident in

the palomar, and semi-confident in the drop shot knot as

described in the video.

EDIT: part of the allure is you can set the bobber stoppers

at any depth w/o retying your hook. As well, the hook freely

rotates around the line. But if you prefer a normal drop shot

you can get swivel hooks.

That knot is a knot I & millions of other saltwater anglers have used for Years - to tie a dropper line or hook off a mainline.

In this instance the hook is being incorporated into the knot.  Don't know how that would effect the knot strength but it looks great with the red rope  . . . .

That actually sounds like a great idea I usually use a swivel but if I ever run out of swivels for whatever reason or just don't feel like tying one on I'll have to give this a try.

The only line I'm confident in using the palomar is braid every thing else gets the San Diego jam

With bobbler stoper, i only see one problem when you set hook and the hook start moving down the line becuz the stoper itself doesnt have enough strength to hold the hook in place. It might happen when you leave a long tag end.

I tried in once or twice but with carolina keeper instead and my tag end always shorter than 12". I still find to tie dropshot or even palomar knot easier and less equipmeny to worry.
