Especially now that Elliot has been suspended for 6 games. They're still one of the few NFL teams that rely on the running game for success.

My prediction is an appeal with a reduction to 3 games. Probably the only prediction I'll get right this football season.

As much as i believe the pats are going to win the division.. this team has sucked for 17 years straight.  Sammy has had injury issues,  we weren't going to keep him after the season either. Tyrod isn't the guy at all. We finally have a sense of direction after all these years of garbage..

I agree, they do have a sense and a plan. I can't believe ownership messed it up for 17 years, you would think they would have figured it out.

Towards the end of Ralph Wilsons life, Russ Brandon ( our marketing guy) ran the team into the ground with the horrific coaching hires, gm hires, (marv levy I don't understand) and signing t.o..... Its beyond a joke.. The franchise constantly dwells in the past glory years.. Pegula buying the team was great and with the Beane and McDermott, i think they finally have the right people... A long long way from challenging the Pats...

Looking forward to the 2 losses to them this year lol

Thank god for amazing kids, an amazing wife, lake erie, the Niagara river, and chicken wings..

I know you did and I posted the day Elliott got suspended. I'm really just agreeing with you and pointing out that the running game is a huge part of the Cowboys offense.

We'll see, he wasn't exactly helpful with the investigation.

Yea but Jerry Jones has a lot of pull with Goodell. But then again, I thought that about Robert Kraft. Been wrong before.

It's a joke really. They waited over a year to make a decision with Elliott.

jones doesn't have any more pull than any of the others, if he did, belly shirt wouldn't be suspended.  As far as waiting a year, they were conducting their own research and investigation.  They don't have a timetable to follow so they can get it right.

I said it before he was even draft that it would just be a matter of time before he gets suspended it will just be a matter of for how long.  This will be a wake up call to him hopefully and it will also be a wake up call to Cowboys fans that Dak isn't the reason they had success last year...

Even without Edelman it's hard to see how the Pat's don't own the AFC this year barring more catastrophic injuries. For the NFC Atlanta should be just as strong as last year. Seattle could show some spunk with Wilson's new fitness regiment and a healthy defense. Green Bay is still missing a real running back, and I'm not sold on Dallas backing up last year.

I'm sorry, was there any other team in the AFC that could challenge NE or are we giving them a free pass to the Super Bowl? I don't see a challenge honestly. NE to the Super Bowl against ATL or SEA and I give the edge to NE either way.

AFC:

The Texans have a good D and could be a contender. They really are a QB away from being in any serious talk. I still wouldn't rule out the Steeler's and don't forget Oakland.

NFC:

Green Bay - Aaron Rogers...need I say more

Dallas - I'm with you @dwh4784, I'm not sold

Atlanta will be driven

Trending up in Tampa Bay - very talented group down there. Will surprise and may get in at least play off round or 2

Detroit? Trick or Treat

Would a 40 yr old QB count? Mother nature is undefeated. I'm bias. I'm a steelers fan and like what they have done in the offseason. Having said that, Ben is known for getting beaten up during the regular season and that affecting his playoff performance. I would bet the steelers get into the playoffs but getting to the SB is something different. As for my predictions for the super bowl its Dallas and Oakland. I think both teams have a core roster that is the strongest in their conference.

Strongest in their conference? Their defense was bad last year and it actually got worse this year. Their schedule is ridiculously difficult and I have a hard time seeing them winning 10 games...and I'm a Dallas fan.

He may be 40 but he's only ever lost one season to injury and on a fluke hit. The guy is like a DUI driver walking away from a flaming wreck. He goes limp noodle every time he gets hit, and it's not accidental he counts on getting hit and knows how to react to it. Plus it's not like Garoppolo was bad when he played last year. Also a weak division and likely a high playoff seed. Their odds are hard to discount.

Steelers are so loaded offensively it's ridiculous but Ben is not great on the road. They lose too many games that they shouldn't, he takes too many hits on his legs (and their backups are awful). I predict they go into the playoffs with a a 3 seed, lower seed than they probably should but Oakland will beat them out for the #2. But if Ben, Bell, and Brown (Bryant as well) are all there they would be very tough to beat.

Seattle just nabbed another top flight defensive player for this year. If all he does is put a choker leash on Bennett to keep him from jumping off-sides every third play he will already improve that defense. Really though, if they stay healthy they are going to be really good. I personally think Lacy will be a bust, another overrated  SEC/Alabama player but both Rawls and Procice are good enough to produce a decent running game. Seattle has the easiest division in the NFL without a doubt so playoffs are a given it's about staying healthy.

Colts suck. Brissett was gonna be cut, and instead the Pats parlayed him into a first round draft pick of a receiver.

Agreed. Colts made a bad move for a guy that may back up Tolzien. Especially considering they probably could have gotten him or another QB like him after the cut.

Let's go ... buffalo

I grow weary, but am still a fan. I hope this isn't a tank

season, but getting rid of key players for ... less than

key players isn't exactly encouraging.

Tyrod seems to be set up to fail...or trade as the West

Coast offense isn't his speciality. Maybe we're being played

and the Bills will rout the Eastern Conf. Or maybe they'll

be racing the Jets to the bottom for Sam D.

Either way, it is tiring for this old Bills fan who went to

playoff and conference title games in the glorious-but-0-

so-sad-90s.

The Bills are really going to have to work if they're going to try to beat out the Jets for last place

This is too true. I'm not a fan of tanking in general, and if the

tank is for a guy who doesn't want to play for say, Bills or Jets,

then that guy (if it is Darnold) might just go back to school for

another year to avoid them. That means the tank is a gamble

that may or may not pay off.

Jim Kelly didn't want to play for Buff originally and went to the

Houston Gamblers, Jersey Generals until USFL went bust. Bills

still owned his rights and the rest is history.

Buff has a lot of top round picks for next year, so should be able

to move around without tanking. But what do I know... :sad-012:

Even with Edelman out, the Patriots are by far and wide the best team in the AFC.  Oakland, KC, or Pitt would be the likely challengers but its going to take a road win at Foxboro in the AFC Championship to do it.  Trendy picks in the NFC would be Atlanta, Green Bay, Dallas, and Seattle.

The colts are in big trouble if they have to start Tolzein for more than 1 game.  There are some teams that don't have a very good starting QB and most teams don't have even a serviceable backup.

Seattle this year. D is great, O should be improved with a healthy Wilson.
