basstrackerpanfishspecial16 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 I just bought my first boat it is a 1992 bass tracker panfish special 25 hp Johnson not sure of the size of trolling motor my Q is what batteries to use motor and all lights are on one and trolling on another Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted March 9, 2017 Super User Posted March 9, 2017 Most of them had about a 30# thrust trolling motor. For the engine most cranking batteries would work. Look for reserve capacity on a deep cycle. Get 180 RC or more. Quote
basstrackerpanfishspecial16 Posted March 9, 2017 Author Posted March 9, 2017 (edited) jig man for motor and lights or trolling do I need a deep cell for motor since it runs lights as well Edited March 9, 2017 by basstrackerpanfishspecial16 Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 9, 2017 Super User Posted March 9, 2017 You need a marine deep cycle group 27 size minimum for the trolling. Marine batteries have heavy duty plates that can take the pounding from a boat and weekly recharging cycles. If you use LED lighting for very low amp draw, you can get buy with a motor cycle battery for lighting. If you plan to run a sonar unit and the lighting consider a second deep cycle marine battery, 2 the same size and brand is always a good idea, run them paralell and power all your 12V stuff. jdz197 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Go to walmart and buy the biggest deep cycle battery they have, store the receipt in a lock box, and when it gets worn out in a year or two take it back and get a new one. Quote
