I have a Duckett ghost baitcast rod and I use braid on it and it throws fine but when I switched to flouro when I reel my line in I feel a grinding or as the guides are rough and rubbing the line, is there any fix for this without sending it off to Duckett or should it be fine, I know it's not the reel bc I used my smoothest reels and cleaned them out and I know for sure it's not them bc I even tried other reels on that rod

Take a Q tip (cotton tip) and put into each guide and twist it then remove and look for any cotton strands stuck in the guide. If you see any cotton the guides are either cracked or grooved. Get a magnifier to better see the damage, sounds like damaged guide rings.

Check out the guides before considering what to do next. It may be only 1 like the top guide and easy to replace.

If I can recall correctly the guides on the Duckett ghosts don't have inserts. On guides with no inserts, depending on the material, braid can cause grooving on the inner circle of the guides. Rod sleeves/socks won't help in preventing this.

That's probably what happened, is there anyway I can fix this or do I have to send it off?

Personally, I don't like to tamper with my rods so I'd send it off.

Been there and finally did this after being unable to find the crack.  It works, sometimes they are hard to find with the naked eye...

Might the same sensation come from nicks in the fluorocarbon line?

What did you do to the rod after?

Had it repaired at a local shop for about $10, seemed fine after that
