Skip Jig by Fin-Tech

Anyone ever used one of these?  Wonder if they really do skip easily ... and if the bait holder does collapse for a good hook up percentage? Any other input, or other similar products to consider?

i have used them but ultimately didn't like them the hookup wasn't really improved at all and i would rather just use a t-rig which provided a bigger gap for hooking up than the collapsing bait keeper. as for skipping i never tried to skip them so i can't help there

Are you sure it was the skip jig style, or one of the other Fin-tech jigs?

I have a pack or two.  They do skip well, but I don't have a lot of experience to compare them with.  Have never caught a fish on one so I cant comment on the hookups.  But they do feel like they would work well, the keeper is a bit of stiff wire and takes very little finger pressure to make the hook pop out.

i'm sure it was the skip ones but go for it i'm not trying to say they are a bad product at all i just found a t-rig had a better hookup but those are a little hard to skip

I make my own pretty similar to that one and it does skip very well. I put a centering pin screwlock on mine versus that post style keeper.

If they're as good as the bladed jigs you make I'm sure they work well.  Curious what size/weight you usually use, and which plastics you get best results with?  I like the idea of a screw lock, so if you have any pictures to post or PM feel free to send.   Thx

I've been using the 1/4 and 3/8oz mostly during the winter to get a slower fall. I've got some 1/2, 3/4, and 1oz ones waiting for the summer months though.

Interesting, I like to get varying rates of fall when skipping under docks but have usually thrown lighter than you do.  For flukes/tubes and a slow fall use 1/8 oz, beaver style plastics or Menace Grubs 1/4.  Heavier than that, I just bought some Strike King skipping jigs 3/8-1/2 but haven't tried yet...
