I hear so many good things about these reels that I decided to look on ebay for one.  How many different models are there, anyway?!  And if someone were looking for a good general purpose user reel, what would you guys familiar with the line recommend?  The 100 US Trail, the 103M, the 103H, 103P, 105H?  Where to start????

The tdz100 is kind of the oddball of the bunch because it has a 36mm spool which is only compatible with og zillions and fuegos. The 103/105 share the 34mm spool so you can swap them with other tdz/steez reels which take the 34mm. The 105 is shallower and more finesse-oriented. I like the 103 for general purpose and in particular the 103H which has a 6.3 gear. Lefties can upgrade to 7.1 with a gear set from the tackle trap. One of my favorite reels is the tdz r+ which has the tuned spool rotor.

You can get an 103H or 105H (which would be where I would start) and the spool options are pretty endless.  If you get a Steez 103HA (black) or 103SHA (red) spool it has the R+ inductor and though it is not a Gigas material spool, it gives you essentially an Type-R+.  The 103M is the Ito reel and is a beautiful reel (I still have two NIB).  The 100M would not be my recommendation to start with since I think it has traditional Magforce and the spool options are as great.

If I were you, I would look at getting a TD-Z 103H or even if you can find one, an Air Metal TD-X 103H and get a different spool.  Good luck...you will be buying more after your first one! :)  Just sayin'...
