What would be your favorite presentations for stained water (2 to 4 feet) of visibility for water in the 40 - 50 degree range. BTW, no shad in our lakes. The forage are bluegills, green sunfish, crappie, crayfish and occasionally stocker rainbows. I'm thinking still jerkbait, lipless, slow rolled spinnerbait, jig, and possibly a Ned Rig if the water is clear enough.

I like your list. I would add a chatterbait and a Keitech, or chatterbait with a keitech trailer. :)

I think you'd be hard pressed to beat a 'jerkbait' (hard or soft).

Shad have nothing to do with it, a prey fish is a prey fish.

No need to wait for clearer water for the ned rig, it is designed for and is best in stained water.  It is effective in water with allow no clarity, I have had fifty fish days with the ned in water that has 4 inches of visibility.

I'm with ya on spinnerbait and jig. I'd also give drop shot a shake.

Spinnerbait, jig, suspending jerkabit, maybe a Red Eye Shad.
