Angler Ffm Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Hi guys, which fluorocarbon fishing line could you recommend for trout (up to 2lb)? I use the G. Loomis IMX 9000-2S HSR (7' 6", Line Weight 6 - 12, Lure Weight 1/4 - 1/2, Power Mag-Light, Action Ex-Fast) with spinners, spoons, crankbaits. I'm looking for a line with very good reach. Thanks Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 5, 2017 Super User Posted March 5, 2017 I can't recommend a fluorocarbon main line as I don't use it. All my crappie rods are set up with 2# test Fireline Crystal with a 4' fluorocarbon leader of 4# test. This combination works extremely well for on my 3 #6920 Pflueger President spinning reels. I've caught some pretty big fish on these combination rigs, including bass, northern pike and many, many trout. The rods I use are all B n' M. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 5, 2017 Global Moderator Posted March 5, 2017 I'm a big fan of Gliss for trout, I just use a leader of mono for a shock leader. It cast a mile with small lures normally used for trout. I will be trying some Seaguar Finesse Flouro for them this week though, straight flouro. It's worked well for casting grubs for bass, I have high hopes for how it will perform for trout. 2 Quote
MTBassin Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 I've never used fluoro for trout but have always had good luck with plain old 4-6lb trilene mono. Especially if the trout are only up to 2lbs, I don't think you need anything special. I've never had one break off with light mono and I fish spinners, spoons, and small crankbaits mainly. 1 Quote
Super User Angry John Posted March 5, 2017 Super User Posted March 5, 2017 I used my dropshot rod for trout a bunch in Washington state for the last three years. P-line 100% and sniper in 6lb test worked great. I also used Berkeley xl in 6lb and that was good to. 1 Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted March 8, 2017 Super User Posted March 8, 2017 I have that same rod in a one piece. Great smallie & walleye rod. I would try some 6 lb Tatsu or the new Seguar finesse fluoro. 1 Quote

Caught dozens of trout and bass with it and it performed excellent. I was using the 5.2lb test. 1 Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted March 13, 2017 Super User Posted March 13, 2017 I only use 4lb Invizx on a spinning reel. I have some 5.3lb Seaguar finesse Fluoro reserved for an upcoming trout trip. 1 Quote
