When your fishing one of those tough days when there's a cold wind and high sky's after a major rain dump and the first osprey you've seen this year fly's by with a bigger fish than you!!!  Yup....me yesterday.  Caught some but could land no keepers...beautiful day.

Yup, in my neck of the woods parts of the Delta are closed to boat traffic and water temps are around 54 degrees....

I'd hate to frame a house or do concrete work in Florida. Lol. 75 is perfect.  Anything over 85 and I'm miserable unless I'm swimmin

We know it is here in SE VA because the cherry blossoms

are in full bloom, our cars are about to turn yellow with

pollen.

And I actually beat out a bald eagle for a 1.21# bass this

past week. No, wasn't a real competition, but he flew over

me at about 40 feet, give or take, and landed in a tree to

watch this here amateur try and catch bass. I sure showed

him. :D

Spring is almost here in MA.  It's 16 degrees and windy.  Water temps last week in Plymouth were in 46.x - 47.x.

Oddly enough, I just had my driveway widened, my yard hard-scaped with river rock and my wildlife pond re-lined.

I'm sure my mason & landscaper would agree (Jan & Bret) that they were working in an unusually pleasant climate.

During the pasts 6 months, central Florida has been immersed in Hawaiian-like climate (we do need rain however).

Now then, the following 6 months are up for grabs, but Florida is not the inferno that some may envision  :)

As it happens, central Florida has been immersed in Hawaiian-like climate during the past 6 months (we do need rain however).

I've been there several times. And once spent a few weeks there. Coming from a Michigander. Florida is indeed a fiery inferno (to -me ) may-august lol

I too believed it might be an inferno, but before I retired in Florida I did a fairly extensive study on meteorology.

What I learned above all, is that a 'maritime climate' exerts a greater effect on overall climate than 'latitude'.

The first 49 years of my life were spent in New Jersey, where the highest temperature on record is 110 deg F.

In North Dakota, a much higher latitude but more 'continental climate', the highest temp on record is 121 deg F.

Florida is over 425 miles long, a coastal lineage that would take you from Rhode Island thru Connecticut, New York,

New Jersey, Delaware into Virginia. The southernmost latitude in Florida is Key West, FL, but thanks to a

'maritime climate' (surrounded by water), the highest temperature ever recorded in Key West, FL

is 102.9 deg F, and the rare days when Key West hit 100 degs can be counted on your fingers.

(As an aside, the lowest temperature ever recorded in Key West, Florida was 41 deg F.)

I'd love to be retired in Florida.. unfortunately. I'm not near retirement.

I could possibly retire in Florida. But do my job... Nope. I mean I could but  I'd rather be cold than hot (while I'm working , which I spend most of my awake hours doing) , I can always layer up and then take them off as needed. In the heat I'm helpless.. what am I do to? Maybe a wet towel on the neck..

I would never consider it ! Perhaps my career choice and juvenile decisions left me in a path where I will never retire in Florida.

But, I'm going to still get a torn up thumb.

Went out this morning and heard a robin coughing...spring is coming. It was 0 degrees this morning. That means we had NOOO temperature. None what so ever. We were devoid of temperature. When it hit 15 degrees it felt like a heat wave. I almost put on a thong and flip-flops and opened up a fire hydrant. Can't wait till April.

Sure hard to think about Spring this weekend considering the weather here.

Friday we had whiteout snow squalls, sub 20 degrees with 40 mph gusts.

Saturday was in the teens with 20 mph gusts

Sunday hit a high of 30 degrees.

If this keeps us Spring weather will hit sometime around the middle of May.

I was fishing in shorts, sandals and short sleeves on Saturday and it snowed on Sunday. I felt like I was in the Midwest with the big temperature swing. Luckily I should be in shorts again next weekend

We started saturday morning in jeans and sweatshirts and ended up in tee shirts by 10 am. Im not sure if we have seasons in Alabama anymore.
