So I know it's been discussed before but I'm sending a few rods ahead of me down to Florida I found 20 schedule pvc thick enough walls and also light thinking about inserting foam on both ends to keep extra protection and of course bubble wrap guides etc if anyone has any other tips on packing them that'd be great and also what's the best way to ship cost and time of delivery I'm not gonna take them on the plane cause they will get an extra charge due to being over 80" which one do you guys find the best price and shortest delivery time out of the major shipping companies and also best handling of the companies I've read some horror stories on here so little anxious sending. In my experience you will pay more for it but the shortest transit time = the less handling events. So ship it 1 day or 2nd day AIR, never Ground. Ground shipments can potentially get destroyed via any carrier. It goes from truck to trailer to sort center to truck to train to trailer etc. We had a shipment damaged once via a train derailment.:o

You ship it air it goes from the truck that picks it up, to the airport/plane, sort center, plane, truck, delivered. In 24-48 hours. With a shipping tube you want the least amount of handling.

This time of year there isn't any holiday rush so either carrier should be fine, I'd personally choose FedEx though. We had way more damaged packages from UPS. UPS employees are union, they basically can't be fired and they (sometimes) don't care. I once packed a $13,000 piece of equipment w/ insurance and "fragile" stickers on the box only to watch the driver throw it as hard as he could right into the corner of the wheel well.

Just my two cents as a former manufacturing company warehouse supervisor.

Thank you so much for all your help and I'll have to check they're rates but I'm all too familiar with how they handle items makes me cringe (work for a newspaper) and all too familiar with how they handle fragile packages
