I am in need of a new all around baitcaster. I already have a slow geared baitcaster for cranks. I'm not overly thrilled about the looks of the curado I series. Not fond of the color. But I can look past that if it is the best bang for the buck. Especially since they've been discounted now.  What else should I be looking at? Wait for the new rendition of the curado? Assuming they'll update the brakes to match the 70 size?  Wait for the discount on the citica? Completely different brand?

I just picked up my Curado last week for 130 bucks after the 20 dollar off coupon I got from cabela's along with their $150 sale. Seemed like a steal to me.

I will say I do need 200 size as the reel will see double duty here in the northwest as a steelhead reel when I am not using my curado 301's.

201hg scorpion any good?

How did you come about this coupon? I also have a $25 gift card for Cabela's as well.

I dunno haha, they just mail them to me like quarterly or something. This was the spring "Cabela's Bucks", 20 off of a purchase of 150 or more. Add one small item and bam done. I don't know if it is still available or not, I could look when it expires when I get home from work if you want.

Get the Curado 201hg it can do everything and at 150 bucks it's a steal. If you take care of it will last a long time.

Bought a Curado I 200HG at Basspro for $133.73 today, that's tax included and the $5.34 it cost to buy a zebco 202 and trade it in for $25 off.

For a reel that recently retailed for $179.99 I'd say that's pretty d**n fair.

Now I get to see what all this Shimano fuss is all about

American Legacy has the Curado 70 in the 7gearing model on sale for $149. They do charge shipping unless your order clears $200. Either pay the shipping or add in some other items to clear $200. A pretty nice deal nonetheless.

Code is 17SPRING. Good on orders of 150 or more, you still have to cover shipping. I used it in store, so I didn't have to pay that.

Curado I is a solid performing reel. You can also easily add a longer handle from a Met XG and as 4 bearings under the handle to improve leverage and smoothness.

There some great reels out there but one thing I'll say about the Curado line all the way down to the b series.... ive never regretted buying one. They've all been great reels.

Just picked up a Curado too at bps with the reel trade in it was only $119.  I've been messing around with last few days and it is a pretty nice reel.  For the price I paid it's worth every penny.  IDK about the $179 price tag on it a month ago.

Are you set on Shimano? Used to be all I'd buy, the last few years I switched over to Pfluegar and Okuma, no plans of changing back. For the same price, I'd take a good look at the Pfluegar Supreme XT. Nice thing about the name not carrying the weight that Shimano's does, you can find them on sale often. I paid less than $100 for all but 1 of mine.

I fished the curado for about 4 hours today and I think I'm in love. It lives up to the hype and at this price point anybody looking to step up their memecaster should pick one up. I thought the smaller crank would be an issue but it's not.

Looking forward to putting it side by side against the Tatula CT 100HS tomorrow.

I'd take the Curado over any other $260 reel any day. Just keep it maintained.

You can get the citica I new on ebay for 115 bucks. It's the same reel as the curado I.

The Curado I has better bearings, handle, drag star, etc. Plus you get the bragging right to having a Curado!

Either way, they're both Shimano, so you cant go wrong.

I recently converted all of my bass casting rigs to the Curado I.  I am a believer.  Flushed all the spool bearings and lubed with one drop of oil, and polished the ends of the spool shaft.  Not necessary, but made a big difference in casting effort and distance.

I have both. They definitely don't have different handles. There was some info going around that one was forged and one was cast which isn't true, even bantam said they have the same handle on tackle tour. The drag star I'm not sure about, never really compared them. What's the difference between the two? The curado has 3 arb bearings and 2 stainless steel vs 5 stainless steel in the citica. Doesn't necessarily make them better. After owning and using both I wouldn't pay more fore the curado. There is zero difference between the two reels performance wise.

I just bought a 200ihg for $125 at Cabelas after all of the discounts and coupons were applied. I will take that deal every time.
