Haven't handled any of them but i was also considering a 765 vs the 7'3 mag heavy dobyns fury, just didn't know if the 765 was capable of frogging too

Get the Fred's Magic Stick. You won't be disappointed. Good tip for walking frogs. Tons of backbone for pulling them out of the thickest slop.

I picked up a Fred's Magic Stick this week to be my frog/heavy topwater rod.  I spent about two hours with it yesterday and am really impressed.  My most used rods are all around 6' so I expected some issues when going to a 7'5" rod, but they were all pretty minor.

It can bomb a frog very far but still do close and accurate, but not as easily as my usual 6' rods.  I was able to walk the frog pretty well, but the long butt would snag in my jacket at times.

I next tried a Whopper Plopper  130 and my first cast took off all 50y of braid and a few feet of backing before I thumbed it to a stop.  It was a bomb cast but still way further then I have been able to cast before.  Making more normal side arm casts still got the Plopper really far out there and a few times I had to cut the cast short before all my braid came off the spool.

The only other technique I wanted this rod for is heavier  jigs/punching for when the frogs arnt working.  I hope to get some time to try that out this weekend.

Overall I am realy happy with the rod so far.

I have not used the Daiwa Tatula XT Frogging Rod but I do have and love the Tatula Frog Rod...and I absolutely love this rod for fishing frogs, plenty of backbone for getting the fish out of heavy cover and no problems setting the hook...

Irod IRG754F* Freds Magic is very universal. I had the rod now for about 4 years and use for nearly all my lures in the 1 - 2 oz weight range from swimbaits, wake baits, rats, larger top water, frogs and pitching or punching. Can't go wrong with this rod, it's a work horse.

In case MassBassin decides to go with Fred's Magic Stick. It's 754 not 765 B)

Toss a 1/2 oz frog with no problem loading?

I throw Spro 65s which are 5/8oz 99% of the time. I have thrown the Jr which is 1/2oz a few times. It can handle it fine.
