This coming week, my fishing partner & I are going down to Cabelas to see these new Garmin sonars and their features. We're looking at the 73 SV right now, but I'm not sure if that model has "Chirp" or not? I know the 73 CV has chirp, but it doesn't have side imaging. Anyone have any other clarification for us? Thanks! :)

I did a quick on-line search and it looks like some 73sv models do and some don't. From what I saw if they do have CHIRP you'll know because it'll be advertised in big letters. That's on-line anyways.

I bought one a few weeks ago in our local cabelas and it had side view, most of them that has sv means side view

The easiest way to tell if it has CHIRP or not is the price. The 73sv that was on sale for $449 is the older version without CHIRP. The current models with, are $850. Trust me, there is not $400 worth of difference between the versions.

As Scott F said, the $449 EchoMap sv is the non-chirp model but is also a great value for the money.

I compared the chirp and non-chirp models and paid $499 at BPS a year ago for my older non-chirp 73 sv model and I am more than happy with my decision.

Go for it!

I just picked up the non chirp model @ BPS also... $250 difference just for chirp ??  No way !!
