mllrtm79 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 A group from DE is heading down to Williamsburg VA for a bowling tournament next weekend (3/10-3/12). I am not bowling this year, so myself and a couple of others are talking about fishing on Saturday instead of golfing or shopping with the wives. What spots have good bank fishing this time of year? (not planning to haul boats along) I made a note already about Waller Mill Park and Warhill Sports Complex from searches on here, as they are near our hotel. Any advice from the locals? Quote
Brayberry Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 If you make he drive to Suffolk (about 45 minutes) you'll have MANY more options. Lone Star Lakes (11 Different Lakes on site) Lake Prince Lake Cahoon (also has boat/trolling motor rental) If you go to Chesapeake (1 hour away) Oak Grove Lake Park All the lakes and canals around Greenbrir Mall (miles of water) Northwest River Park Quote

Waller Mill has a very small "bank" fishing area. And I mean small. We've caught nice bass there, though! Paid entry, and you have one spot to fish from shore. No permit required. Warhill has a small pond, small bass, FWIW, more areas to shore fish than Waller Mill.... Most areas around here are either city/county owned reservoirs, and you must have a permit (not just a license) to fish them. Quote

I haven't been down that way in quite a few years. (Mt. Pleasant Rd) I will talk to the guys about Suffolk though, otherwise we'll hit the little ponds at Williamsburg and maybe spring the fee of $2 for fishing at Lee Hall. Thanks for the responses guys The weather report this morning doesn't look nearly as inviting as it did the other day, so we may opt to hit the water for a few minutes, grab breakfast, and then hit Alewerks for the afternoon Quote
