Super User A-Jay Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 Last season I used & depended on the Minn Kota Bow Mount Stabilizer Kit MKA-50 that came on the 112 Fortrex I've got on the bow. Initially was satisfied with it's ability to 'support' the inboard end to this fairly oversized 62 inch shaft. However there ended up being far too much 'play' in the unit when encountering the type of conditions I anticipated & felt it was designed for. Just finished a DIY install of the T-H Marine Troll-Tamer Trolling Motor Locking System. Install is pretty straight forward and the directions are decent. The Lund's aluminum decking required a modification to some of the supplied hardware which would otherwise work fine for most other materials. Stock pic, not my actual install It will be a while before anything other than an on the trailer test can be completed, but right from the start, it's a whole lot more solid than the previous product. More to follow. A-Jay 3 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 You DIY? Seems risky. I would have charged you $90 and a day on the water of your choice to install it! But seriously, that looks tough as nails. Please report back on how it holds. 1 Quote

Ha Ha ~ I had a feeling that one was coming & the timing was even pretty good. This DIY'er was well within my 'limited' limitations . . . I'll definitely do an updated feed back - A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 And a pic, at the very least. As I've had couple trolling motors fall victim to the "Great Lakes Shuffle," it would be interesting to see. I wish I had pics of me contorted in the front storage of my Xpress, hold the nut and fenders while my son tightened the bolts from the outside on my TM. Of course, it was like 100 degrees that day. Everybody loves a DIY job.... 2 Quote

Super User WIGuide Posted March 2, 2017 Super User Posted March 2, 2017 I think that'll definitely do the job of holding that beast in place! 1 Quote
