mllrtm79 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 We started working on these poppers over the weekend, ran about 94 of them. Ready to insert hooks, paint and get into tackle boxes They are a trial run, but things look good so far. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 Do you have a picture of what the finished product looks like? All google cam up for "Boonie Bug" was this, lol: Quote
mllrtm79 Posted March 1, 2017 Author Posted March 1, 2017 I don't have one yet, will get back into it tonight or this weekend depending on Ray's schedule. There is a painted/glittered bug in the photo above the new ones that we took the hook out of to take measurements from. We will be adding eyes to them as well as a skirt I believe. I think the Arkie grub is what the plan is for a trailer at this point, but I am leaning toward trying a hydra on it. I will post more photos as the work goes along. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted March 2, 2017 Super User Posted March 2, 2017 I see! I imagined the heads were much larger. So, explain it to me if I have this wrong... these allow you to put a plstic whatever bait on a "jig" that floats - correct? Quote

Some guys cup the "mouth" out a bit, but it's debatable whether there's an advantage to that. pick your favorite grub for a trailer and toss an' twitch. I haven't played with them enough to know how big of a trailer they'll keep on top. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted March 2, 2017 Super User Posted March 2, 2017 That reminds me of the Bass Bugs we used to pitch with a heavy fly rod. They're Killer! Roger 2 Quote
mllrtm79 Posted March 2, 2017 Author Posted March 2, 2017 Ray is off work today and sent me an update from the shop, of course I've been actually working at work, instead of spending the day on the interwebs... hate it when that happens. The trial batch is coming along. I'm really itching to get these out on the water for some reason, I guess because I helped make them. Maybe this summer I will try my hand at painting some crankbaits too... hmmm Quote
