dsqui Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 As the title states what's your favorite bladed swim jig and trailer and why mine would have to be a chatter bait because it's the only one I've ever fished lol every year I pick a New technique to try and master and this year it's these Quote
DBL000006 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Z Man and Trailer, i go with Berkley Havoc Grass Pig or Zoom Swimming Fluke 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 I have two favorites. The SK Rage Blade & Strike King KVD Perfect Plastic Blade Minnow ~ love this one early season, low & slow. The Z Man Chatterbait Freedom & Culprit Incredi Craw ~ the specially designed, twisted hook attachment allows anglers to swap-out hooks in an instant, opening the door to an almost-endless combination of trailers. Super User RoLo Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 Currently I'm throwing a 'Revenge 1/2 oz Viberator' (not a misspelling) It has a nice thump, but what I like most is the little hitchhiker that allows a T-rigged weedless trailer. I use different trailers but prefer a non-throbbing trailer that doesn't compete with the throb of the blade, normally a Kalin 4" Lunker Grub (chartreuse/pearl). Roger 1 Quote
jr231 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 @A-Jay threw a curve ball with the culprit craw. Awesome choice. I don't see culprit talked about hardly any... Except for the ribbon tails occasionally... Which my grandfather swore by 1 Quote

Which my grandfather swore by Try It - It allows the blade bait to be worked a little faster - a little speed encourages the bait to "hunt" a bit, which is almost always a good thing. A-Jay 1 Quote
Scarborough817 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 gambler little ez: moderate action very heavy side to side kick (when i'm fishing them over trees) havoc subwoofer: has more action (normally when i'm running baits fast) keitech swing impact fat: a lot of action at slow speed (when slow rolling) Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 A homemade number: 3/8oz arky head, split ring, blade, snap, skirt, zoom fluke: 6 Quote

I got some new yamamoto swim baits to try out behind one pretty beefy profile with a segmented body and more low profile boot tail the local shop gave them to me to try out...guess they are new this year I don't even see em on tackle warehouse a lot bigger profile then what comes with them a lot like what u are going for It's called a zako Quote

The Pit Boss and Menace have appendages that work in opposite directions of each other, which allows a slower retrieve because of the increased drag. The Pit Boss especially is also much cheaper than the Zako as well as more durable. I had a similar issue with the heart tail from Yamamoto, fish biting the tails off or tearing the bait up quickly, especially on days when the catfish are really chasing. It gets really expensive really fast on those days if I'm using an expensive trailer. Quote
dsqui Posted March 1, 2017 Author Posted March 1, 2017 Got ya well these few packs were free lol I have some pit bosses as well I'll def be givin them a try thanks for the advice 1 Quote

They were nice, but $10 a pack was way too steep for me to keep using them. Quote
Advantage Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 I use several different types depending on water clarity, speed of retreive/rate of fall desired, etc. Split tails, single curly tail, flukes, swimming flukes, pit boss, and rages. Quote
tander Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 I use both the Z Man Project Z and Picasso Shock Blade in 1/4 and 3/8 size. I use the Yamamoto Zeko and Zoom's split tail for trailers. Quote

ThePolkFolk Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Lately I've been using Z man chatterbaits with a rage craw as a trailer. Quote
RMax Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Z-Man original with a Havoc swimbait is the one I use most, although when I used to get MTB, I recieved a Buddha Baits chatterbait and it looked really good in the water. Only things is, on probably the fifth cast with the Buddha, I stopped feeling resistance and when I pulled it out of the water, all that was left was the blade. Quote
GreenGhostMan Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 z-man original chatterbait with one of the below trailers. - 3.8" BPS speed shad - 3.8" Eco pro tungsten swing shad - SK rage menace rigged sideways Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 I have been using Z man chatterbaits. I either use a fat albert, fluke, or a Zoom super chunk as a trailer. Quote
MDbassin Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Picasso shock blade or D&M custom baits piranha II with a zoom super fluke or strike king blade minnow. No need for paddle tails on a chatterbait/bladed swim jig the lure wobbling side to side will already give your trailer enough action Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 I like the Rage Blade with a menace trailer. The Rage Blade gets hung a lot less with great action.Menace trailer fits perfect for a tight a tight wobble. 1 Quote
Oklahoma Mike Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I like Siebert's Foggy (and the Fogy Bubble Blade). Can't beat the price and color selection. As for trailers, just depends on the situation - will sometimes use a Keitech Impact (usually the 3" but will sometimes use the 4.8" Fat), sometimes a pitboss, maybe a grub. My favorite though is the Biospawn Vilecraw. 1 Quote
