Super User Columbia Craw Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 Every time I think of Toledo Bend, it brings back the Hemphill gang of Tommy Martin, Larrry Nixon, Harold Allen, the late David Wharton and others. It is such a storied lake and was famous in the late 60's and beyond. When I think of one place that is the epicenter of largemouth bass fishing, Toledo Bend is it for me. Smallmouth is another thing. As much as I love the Columbia River (not the waves), I would love to fish Erie. Quote

I spent a few hours on Eufala and would like to spend a week there . That is always the danger of going to a place with such a high reputation. No guarantees anywhere. I have fished more exotic waters for trout than bass. I've fished Paradise Valley of Montana - the Madison and the Yellowstone. It was amazing. Bass-wise not so much, partly because I think bass are so prevalent everywhere that you don't have to go that far to find a honey pot. Quote

blckshirt98 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Growing up watching fishing shows especially The Fishin' Hole, Lake Okeechobee always held a lot of wonder for me, especially with the sheer size of the place. Nowadays though with so many other amazing places my list would be - Clear Lake, CA Mille Lacs Lake, MN (the Elite tourney there last year blew me away) Toledo Bend, TX/LA Falcon Lake, TX Any place with peacock bass Quote

frosty Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 I only have two bucket list places, okeechobee and Toledo bend. I had a subscription to BASS when I was a kid and got to read all about them. I'd wanted to fish them ever since. 2 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted March 1, 2017 Super User Posted March 1, 2017 Bass fishing in the Everglades canals can be phenomenal when the water level is low, with many people catching +100 bass in a single day. 2 Quote

There is a less well known lake that has a local reputation for monster fish. Kingsley lake, at Camp blanding. I've fished these^^ I would like to fish Okeechobee and toho. And at least once,go up north (Tennessee)??? And catch some small mouth.Dale hollow?? You are very fortunate to have had the opportunity to fish Kingsley lake, lots of 14 pound bass have been caught there, including a couple +15 pounders. There are probably state record bass swiming in that lake and it's definitely one of the best trophy bass lakes in Florida. S. Sass Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I have no "bucket list" and i am not the one to name a " legend " however. Some of my home state lakes that are well thought of. Texas Lakes Sam Rayburn Toledo Bend Lake Fork Lake Falcon Alan Henry Lake O’ The Pines Some i'd like to hit one day that I think are well thought of list. Florida Lakes Okeechobee Lake George Lake Monroe California Lakes Castaic Lake Clear Lake Dixon Lake Miramar Reservoir 2 Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted March 2, 2017 Super User Posted March 2, 2017 I am blessed with a wife addicted to smallies ( you can bet I had everything to do with that!) Thank you Leftie Kreh and Bob Clouser! Anyway because of her love of fishing, I have been able to go fish, Center Hill Lake, Erie, Table Rock, lake Gaston, Lake Anna, plenty of time spent on the Susqy river even boated Percy Priest while test running a new Pro Craft back in the day. For me the top place I have fished was Dale Hollow. I have battled more 4 to 7 pound bass there than any place in the world. My bucket list has Chicamagua, Guntersville, Pickwick, and possibly St Clair on it. 1 Quote
bmac31 Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Erie The Big O Toled Bend Table Rock Guntersville Mille Lacs Lake and so many more... -Brian Quote

The peacock bass fishing has been great this whole year in South Florida, so I highly recommend anyone who wants to catch peacock bass to come down here for these fish. Lots of +5 pounders have been caught this year, with a couple +7 pounders. The peacock bass fishing will only get better as the year progresses, and these fish can be easily found in most bodies of freshwater in South Florida. Super User TOXIC Posted March 3, 2017 Super User Posted March 3, 2017 I want to fish them all!! C'mon retirement!! 13 years ago I had the chance to go to a bucket list lake....Lake St Clair and fish with some local guys I met on the internet. I have been going back for a week for the last 13 years straight. We rent a house on an island (Harsens) and the group has grown to 10 people, we have dock space at the cottage for the boats and we spend a week straight jerkin toad smallmouth. Wouldn't trade the trip for anything. 5 Quote

BigSkyBasser Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I'm astounded that none of my fellow smallmouth anglers have mentioned Rainy Lake?!? This fishery can make for some of the most epic smallmouth trips in all of Ontario. Check out Rainy Lake Also notable are Coeur d'alene lake. Bullards Bar. Lake Mead (because of the history.) Quote
Ktho Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 For California I'd say Clear Lake and the Delta are the most legendary for regular largemouth fishing. Pretty much any San Diego lake is legendary for the giants along with castaic and casitas. Bullards Bar for spotted bass. Mohave and Havasu for smallies. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 7, 2017 Global Moderator Posted March 7, 2017 Anywhere but guntersville. I know it's legendary but I haven't encountered anything except 10,000 bass boats, 99% of which with all frowns on their faces Quote

I would like to fish Casitas and Castaic again as they were back in the 90's, both are legendary during that era. I fish Casitas regularly now and occasionally fish Castaic, not legendary anymore. As long as are rolling the clock back Lower Otay and San Vicente in the 70's were legendary during their boom periods. Tom 1 Quote
