Well this is my first post to the forum. I was wondering if anyone on here has fished with the Original Trout Glider yet? They are a new glide bait on the market that I accidentally ran into social media. It is about the most realistic looking swimbait I have found on just a visual aspect. I ended up purchasing a couple of them but I am a newbie in fishing swimbaits. So it will probably take me a bit to figure it out what i am doing before i can give a review.  I am just now gearing up to throw large swimbaits. Swim bait gear ?s are what original brought me to this forum.

I figured someone on here may have fished with one of these trout gliders by now on here? Thanks for taking time to read

They aren't on the radar of any of the swimbait groups I know.

that's that chinese bait that was talked about for a second in another post , think they cost $ 6 on alibaba ...

by the way , not trying to sound harsh but that is not very realistic , there are a LOT more baits out there that are way more realistic ...

EDIT : they are $1.85 -$2.50 , check the pic below --

At that price point, I can recommend the Savage Gear gliders, and personally vouch for their ability to catch.

You don't sound harsh at all. I know nothing about swimbaits. I figured it was just printed but I was just going off a picture and their website.  This is why I ask before I throw away a bunch of money. Obviously it was too good to be true. I appreciate the honesty. Glad I didn't break the bank too bad.

reason i pointed it out that it was a cheap chinese bait is that most every swimbait fisher wants a bait designed and made by a swimbait fisherman so that you know it's been tested , tuned , and has quality control and also very important is that the bait is backed up by the company as far as warranty and repair , basically great customer service !!! i just couldn't trust a company that slaps their name on a chinese mass produced bait . why do you think most glide baits cost a lot of money ? because most are hand made and hand tuned though there are some glide baits that are more reasonably priced , people might chime in with some good options like J.Francho did .

So they are obviously just printing over that cheap mold? Because that is definitely the same mold

I am sure I will mess around with it but ultimately I want to buy some more quality swimbaits or glidebaits. I want to give larger swimbaits a real chance.  I just need to do some more research on the topic.

Do a couple tests for us, please.

First, throw it in the sink and see if it stays horizontal while it falls.

Second, put it in a vice, tie 80lb braid to all the harness points and pull on them as hard as you can.

Third, file the front side of the joint down until the back end can glide back and forth without touching and throw a split ring on the front of it.

Then throw it and see if it glides true. If it does and holds up to the other things then these are a home run.

I actually bought these as an impulse buy on facebook... but I have fished the trout glider and it does sink slowly and horizontally. I added a split ring to the front and it does help it glide nicely. You can swim it and it has a nice lazy S motion, and if you twitch it it will dart left or right, and if your do a hard snap and give it slack it will turn 180 degrees. I really think this bait is a good alternative to the S-Waver or Savage Gear Gliders. I also took advantage of their sale, where I got 3 lures for like $30.

I haven't pulled the joints or line tie or hook hanger with 80lb braid... but they all seem pretty solid.

I have one that a buddy painted for me (he bought a blank, not the trout glider). It's not terrible but it wants to roll a little on the glide.

Just pointing out that the bait at Allbaba and the Trout Glider are slightly different.  The biggest difference is the rear hook hanger, the Chinese one the hanger comes out of the bait right at the body, the Trout Glider comes out at the end of that fin.  I've never seen either in person or tried either, just looking at pictures

I typically steer clear of "sponsored" baits on Facebook, just my personal experience. If they are typically worth anything, there will be chatter about them somewhere so no real need for them to "sponsor" themselves.

The Daddy Mac lures come to mind as well.

Manufacturing ability has nothing to do with quality...
