Walking around my local dicks and saw these live target knockoffs. They seem nice, said ring hook the plastic collapses nicely. At 4.99 and sure to go on sale being the dick brand  they are pretty cool. Won't be able to test it out for a few more months up north anyone tried them out?image.thumb.jpg.b97a7c1d3359fb1c8c4a8c1976a044a5.jpg

image.jpg Side by side comparison to the live target ... they feel identical... and both have sticky sharp hooks.  I really think it's the same product different label 1/2 the price tag.?

The livetarget has some seriously nasty trokar hooks. I stuck a 4lber with em on the softest take I've ever seen on a top water.

Haven't had much luck on it since, but honestly havent gave it a fair shot. So many lures and such little time lol

No improvement with that.... but I used this lure alot last year.... that didn't seem to scare many away from what I could tell

I'd rather have the one without the Trokar hooks. They're a nightmare to fish through water willows and cut a huge hole in the fishes mouth making it easier for them to toss the bait.

How many fish have you caught with this thing ? I've only caught one.. and the holes wernt any bigger than normal...

If it's too thick I'd opt for a different bait anyway..

I never even threw mine. Once I saw the bait, and the hooks, I left it in the package and sold it. Water willows aren't overly thick in the areas I fish a frog, but they're a very tough stalk, kind of like a sapling tree. You can't tear a hook through them like most other weeds. This is kind of what the stuff I fish frogs in looks like,

Something about the Trokar hooks (and the Owner cutting points), just seems to find them so much easier than other hook styles. I've fished Trokar flipping hooks and used the jig hooks on some of my baits I've made. That point just seems to cut or tear a bigger than average hole in the fishes mouth. One of a few reasons I don't use them (or baits that use them), in my arsenal anymore.

I stopped in at Dicks on the way to visit my gf last weekend and noticed those too as well as their regular frog which uses the same body as the Live Target frogs but I think it was only $3. I couldn't resist, I bought one frog and since I'd been toying with buying the LT Sunfish I pulled the trigger on the knock off. I was impressed with the softness of the bodies, but man do I wish they came with Trokar's. The hook in the Sunfish I got is terrible, both hook points are rolled and you can't just swap it because it's integrated into the weight on the sunfish. The hook in the frog isn't a whole lot better. The points aren't rolled, but they aren't exactly sharp. I'll be swapping that out with a Trokar replacement and the sunfish I'll be filing away to get an actual point on the hooks. Maybe by the time I'm done the ice will have melted and I'll get a chance to use them!

I don't think any walking style bait will fish well in that stuff ! Lol

It's actually better to fish a popping frog and walk it, or some kind of sharp cutting walking bait so when the bait gets into an opening, it can be fished without moving it much.

The Live Target sunfish are a lot better than what most people give them credit for, so this imitation might be ok.

@nhpleasantlakebass any chance you still have the package? I can't find it anywhere online, I figured maybe a UPC would help.

Looks like that lure made the cover of the 2017 Cabela's Fishing catalog.  Neat pic.  Looks like the original Live Target version.

I scored! My local DSG didn't have them but my next closest location did. For $4.99 these things could have bobby pins for hooks it's too cheap not to take a chance. I held it up to a LiveTarget and the bodies are dead on identical.  However, the Trokars are a hell of a lot thicker gauge hook. I won't feel bad beating these up.
