fisherrw Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 So after 11 hours of flipping with red braid this is what my chornarch looks like. How should I go about cleaning it without damaging the paint on my reel? Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 27, 2017 Super User Posted February 27, 2017 LOL, that happened to my Quantum Accurists when I used red Power Pro. Should just wipe off without any harsh chemicals. 1 Quote
bigturtle Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 water and wipe, maybe a bit of soap Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 27, 2017 Super User Posted February 27, 2017 ^^ above all good suggestions, too Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 If simple green etc won't get the stain try denatured or rubbing alcohol. 2 Quote
Super User RoLo Posted February 27, 2017 Super User Posted February 27, 2017 That reel is toast, I'd toss it in the dumpster! 1 Quote

Super User RoLo Posted February 27, 2017 Super User Posted February 27, 2017 I would start with something like '409' or 'Simple Green'. 1 Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted February 27, 2017 Super User Posted February 27, 2017 Well I guess that answers the question " Does that line bleed its color?" Again 409 should not hurt the reel. I used that stuff to help clean up diesel fuel spills and stains in VERY expensive yachts. I would spray it on cloth liberally then wipe down the reel. Just lightly wipe it and it should be okay. 1 Quote

Super User fishnkamp Posted February 27, 2017 Super User Posted February 27, 2017 I guess what is more important to ask is "Did you catch any big ones?" Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted February 27, 2017 Super User Posted February 27, 2017 One of the reasons I hate braid an only use it for frogging and heavy slop fishing. 1 Quote

Super User kickerfish1 Posted February 28, 2017 Super User Posted February 28, 2017 With the red stain you are half way there! Just add a few red aftermarket parts like this to give it that custom look 1 Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 28, 2017 Super User Posted February 28, 2017 HOLY S...... loook at all that blood ! Quote
onetime Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Use some buffing compound on a rag, lightly rub on it and it will go away and be shiny! Quote
Basswhippa Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Comet and steel wool will remove it. Quote
