I appreciate that. Not many say they like the noseface killah! He's a pest but man can he score.

Do they own both like the bills and the islanders??

Yup he owned both the Tigers and Wings. Made his billions as the founder/owner of Little Caesar's Pizza. He was one of a kind. He knew every player by first name treated them all as his son's. A lot of former Wings are in the front office now. It was revealed after his passing he paid Rosa Parks's rent for her for years. He never got to see his Tigers win the World Series or see his new arena finished.

HUGE Bruins fan here.   Played hockey my entire life and I split season tickets with friends from college for years (would go to at least 10 games a year) but i gave them up this year because of the stupid moves they have made.  Neely doesn't have a clue.  He's the one that approves all of the stupid trades and over paying for marginal talent.   I could go on and on.

Seems like sometimes it's hard to make the switch in mind set from player to management.

May be better off with humans in management who never played the game.

We may need to find the NHL equivalent to Bill Belichick before too long  ..  ..  ..  ..

I've been a Blues fan since they joined the NHL. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride!

I love the game. I will take a well played hockey game over any other team sport. The speed, power, precision, and conditioning required to compete at the highest level is amazing.

Flyers.

But they have not been a factor for a number of years.

Still like the Flyers since the days of the Broadway Bullies.

Before that I was a Boston fan.

I live in Minnesota and when the North Stars moved to Dallas, I had to pick a new team.  I jumped on board with the Flyers because, at the time, they had the Legion of Doom line with Lindros, LeClair, and Renberg.  Stayed on that ship ever since and have seen the Flyers be pretty consistent since then.  Living in Minnesota, hockey is pretty big here (we call it the State of Hockey), all the way from youth hockey up to the pros.  The HS boys state tournament sells out an NHL-size stadium here and we have 5 Division 1 hockey teams to give you an idea of how popular it is.  The Wild are probably the best this year that they've been since they started as a franchise in 2000.

Never watched hockey growing up, not a lot of ice or snow sports support here in Southern California.  I have grown to like NHL hockey more than the NFL, NBA or MLB because there doesn't seem to be a prevailing entitlement mentality among the players.  Even at the college levels of those sports, many of the players believe what they do is so very important and not just a game that they are very fortunate to be able to be playing. Here in Orange County, the Duck's players have become part of the community, much like the Angel & Rams players did in the late 70's & early 80's.

I root for 2 teams now, the Ducks and whoever is currently beating up on the Kings.

I totally agree with you on this! I'm really not sure what the difference is between these sports but there aren't the huge egos in hockey. There are superstars of the game but it doesn't seem to be as many or at least they don't make themselves known every time they're  on the ice. Maybe its because there isn't the gigantic contracts as other sports. Either way it's a sport that has good role models for young kids but yet is falling to the wayside of the other sports with contracts almost as big as the egos! It's a rough and tough game but after the final buzzer most are friends at the end of the game on and off the ice. If only other sport athletes could be role models like hockey players and not be so egotistical other professional sports wouldn't be too bad to stomach.

did you notice that patch on the shoulder of those uni's "CITY OF CHAMPS"     YES!

ps watch out for the caps nice trade>

Blues trade Shattenkirk to Capitals

Saw the patch.. didn't help the uniform at all. Of course I'm jealous of your championships, but Pittsburgh might have some of the worst jerseys across their three sports.

The Steelers alternates are the biggest eye sore in the NFL. Those stadium series uniforms from Saturday were the worst jerseys I've seen since the canucks Charlie Browns. Then there's the Pirates retro look, oh god.

I envy the rings, but not the look.

Dont get me started on the Caps. I went to college in DC. I loved bouncing them from the playoffs in 2007-08. Probably the biggest choke artists in the NHL. Win (or at least compete) for the Presidents Trophy year in year out.. only to fail miserably two weeks later.

Growing up I used to watch the red wings.. they had the dream team.. Lindstrom , yzerman , federov, shanahan, chelios, datsyuk, McCarty, Osgood , and Hasek are some of the ones I remember.

* Forgive my spelling of their names

The Caps are a really good team that just got better with your acquisition of Shattenkirk. You have some great talent that once played in St.Louis. What we wouldn't give for a good General Manager! We are all too familiar with playing well in the regular season, and collapsing in the playoffs.

My Blues are going to make the playoffs and probably avoid having to play the Blackhawks in the first round. This is a very good thing. The Blues look good, but I have been watching the Blackhawks play a lot over the last few weeks, and they look like they have a step or two on everyone else. It really pains me to say that...
