Super User ChrisD46 Posted February 24, 2017 Super User Posted February 24, 2017 Looking for a line recommendation to use with bladed vibrating jigs (i.e. chatterbaits ) ... I'm thinking something in the #12 lb. to #17 lb. range in either a co-poly or FC would be best - what line are you currently using for bladed vibrating jigs and what do you like about the line best ? Thanks in advance ! 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted February 24, 2017 Super User Posted February 24, 2017 Generally, 30# braid. Felt like I missed too many with other lines. I've found no downside and I have greater confidence in hooksets. 3 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted February 24, 2017 Super User Posted February 24, 2017 Generally 14-16lb Sniper FC, or 40lb Suffix 832 with a FC leader in the aforementioned ratings. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted February 24, 2017 Global Moderator Posted February 24, 2017 12# Yo-Zuri for all moving baits. I tried flouro but just didn't see the need for it, especially top of the line stuff (Any Sunline product or worse yet Tatsu) Its strong, workable, diameter is in line with any flouro and holds a knot as good as any. And yes it's cheap, but that is not a concern to me when it comes to fishing line. Mike 3 Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted February 24, 2017 Super User Posted February 24, 2017 30-40 lb braid with a floro or copoly leader (12#). 2 Quote
TH-Outdoors Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 14-17lb FC or throw it with straight braid if fishing stained water. Quote
Yudo1 Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 I use 30lb with 12 fluoro leader on a mh, moderate/fast rod. 1 Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted February 24, 2017 Super User Posted February 24, 2017 I use whatever brand of 17 lb mono is on sale at Walmart. I think that the abrasion resistance of the 17 lb mono is worth the slightly lessened casting distance. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted February 25, 2017 Author Super User Posted February 25, 2017 Thanks for the useful replies ... Anyone tried Gamma Polyflex co-poly line in say #12 lb. to #17 lb. sizes ? Quote
Advantage Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 I like the 14 to 17lb range too, depending on water clarity and cover. Mono, copolymer, or fluoro...again depending on water clarity and cover. My usual brand is P-Line. Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted February 25, 2017 Super User Posted February 25, 2017 ChrisD46- I'm in the the 30-40lb braid with a 15-20lb fluoro camp secured with an Alberto knot. I believe it's more cost effective for me to replace the leader over the course of the year. 1 Quote

Guest Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 12 pound CXX or 15 pound CX premium. pline. Quote
FrankN209 Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I'm using for my spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, Gliss 40lb Monotex. 40lb Gliss is @ .010 in diameter. Quote
Airman4754 Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 30lb braid with a 12lb CXX leader. That's strong enough where I can straighten out the hook when I get it stick in wood. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted February 26, 2017 Author Super User Posted February 26, 2017 All good replies - I have a reel with #30 lb. braid as a mainline and a spools of #12 lb. CXX and #12 lb. FC InvizX which I will try with 5 ft. leaders .... Same would probably work for lipless traps , swim jigs and spinner baits as well . Quote
Junk Fisherman Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 15 fluorocarbon is on my main reel that I have dedicated for bladed baits and spinnerbaits But I will not hesitate to use my setup with 40 lb braid with a leader. Quote
